That, and a somewhat more welcoming reception, especially the first night.

I could arrange one of my infamous barfights for the beginning... But I didn't drink Vodka for a long time now and this is one of the parts that help me actually doing it. |

A noble cause, but I fear that to have a "neutral, with no agendas, preconceived notions, or biases" place it would require anyone that frequents IGS on a regular basis to keep their mouths shut.
Such a thing is impossible.

Much better last night, thank you, Mr. Void. You still may want to see about some additional security; I'm not the only capsuleer who travels with a small squad of security specialists, and you will probably want some means of enforcing your neutral status when someone decides to, say, make a philosophical statement with flechette fire or toss a match at one of those combustible ****tails you serve.

Nothing keeps people from doing silly things. Nothing. With defense turrets you can do some things, and none of which has to do something with security.
You can kill everything inside your bar if someone is doing something stupid. Like beating an other into the face for something he has said about his mother for example.
I don't know if you ever have seen the workings of a .50 calibre but such ammunition doesn't stop after it has killed the person on which was shot. This only happens in the movies - the bad ones.
In reality there will be shrapnell, there will be fire where the bullets hit, there will be ricochet. Yeah. Some smartass are using depleted uranium cores for those "security" guns. And this means radioactivity.
By all means, people. A damn sentrygun has nothing to do in a bar. Really NOTHING. And I do not set my foot into an establishment with this insane idea of "security". It's just a deathzone. Man, in which kind of country do you live to set things like that up and even state that as "security"? This is in best case insanity.
In worst case such unsymetric violence leads to abuse. And is more a lack of mindset and smarts than anything.
Really. Be serious.
If I go into a bar I don't wanna have damn weapons detectors at the entry and a nurse that first begins to check my intestines for smuggled weapons or bombs. If I damn wanna blow up a bar I set up a loads of explosive in front of it. And then everything will be gone inclusive the sentries and all "security" measures that might be there.
You can not stop people doing stupid things.
Only thing you can do in this world is beeing an example of how to live and not doing stupid things. And hope that enough people follow your lead and build a decent society with that.
And by doing stupid things I also mean setting up security measures.
Man, if you really need the feeling that your club is elite, you may put some muscles at the door. Muscles that do nothing at all but to draw attentions from people that want to show that they can mess up a muscle.
With all respect. Stop this nonsense. There is a bar in New Eden without a stupid "security" measure, don't spoil it. And don't give bad advice. I would not even enter a bar where people begin to search me for weapons. I am Matari. I always carry weapons. And I don't use them in bars.
Because if you draw a weapon in a Matari bar and you are not very very fast with that you are dead before you have pulled the trigger.
This is security. The only security there is. A society where everybody has the power and the will to defend his rights and his freedom. The idea to take that away from people is exactly opposite to what we Matari are fighting out there.
And I won't start to betray it with something simple like a bar. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS

Ms Wildfire, you are correct when you mean to say no security system is flawless. Someone who wishes to do harm may eventually find such a flaw. It is however also true that the more difficult you make it for people to do anything stupid, the less the chance becomes of them actually doing something stupid as the effort will be simply too much. Also the mere thought of ending up with a few bullet holes in ones body is for many enough to not get any funny ideas.
You are also correct when you say that machine guns, automatic cannons and radioactive ammunition are a terrible idea. Note however that turrets can mount so much more weaponry and can be equipped with AI to avoid potential accidents. They should never form a primary line of defence either. Upsetting your bouncers by firing them in favour of an automated system is generally a bad idea, and as a pod pilot you should know some things are simply best left to humans.
You state you would rather go to a bar which has your preferred idea of security, that is everyone has the means to defend themselves. You might, as capsuleer, feel safe there, after all you can afford the best weapon technology and have access to backup clones. This is where I see the flaw in your system. There will be non-capsuleer personnel and clientFle present. While you might arm the former with the best as well, and even give them clone access, this is no guarantee for the latter. So while you have your "freedom", you cannot guarantee equality. Does this not conflict with neutrality?
