Devs!:) Can we have a lifetime Membership? Please.
I pay yearly. You can't play this game any other way! except constant trial accounting, its skilled based. Out of the 2 years I have been playing in the game I probably played a max of 3 maybe 4mths! Mostly, now I can get isk fairly well, I log in to do a skill and log out!
So how about a Lifetime Membership Fee for long termers?
I was in the cb in the early years and have come and gone several times over the years prior to this membership losing the past accounts.
Early next year I'm due to re-subscribe for a year but I'm also thinking maybe not too. For me at its current standing I may as well be playing a browser game. logging in, and logging off.
I think we should have a Lifetime Membership!
What do you think?

Should be in features and ideas discussion imo.
But I will bite.
Usually lifetime subs is what companies do as a last ditch effort before a game goes under. It is used as a way to get people to pony up a large sum of money to keep the game afloat for a little longer before the doors are closed. Tbh, I think yearly subs is good enough. If the money is what concerns you then just sub your account with PLEX. -----------------------------------

Err...you are considering that renewing for another year may not be worth it...but you want a lifetime membership?
Considering that with the current lifespan CCP expects out of EVE, a lifetime membership is going to be expensive.

Lifetime options are only given if the company knows it'll be worth it to them, in other words you WON'T keep playing for all eternity. Either because the game's crap or because they didn't plan for the game to live longer than 2-5 years.
Draw your own conclusions.

Lifetime memberships are sold to get a cash influx, to stop dropping subscriber numbers, to recoup development cost or financially attractive (i.e. you have 12 months of content and selling lifetime subscriptions at a 24 month price). If the game is supposed to survive past the lifetime membership, they'll only sell a limited amount. Mostly it is used as an interest free loan when the banks say no, which should give us as a player pause and reconsider buying one.
None of these apply to EVE, for CCP to offer a lifetime membership at a reasonable pricepoint would be a financial loss to them. I could see them selling a limited amount in a lottery/auction kind of thing for a benefit like Childs Play but offering, say 10,000 lifetime subscriptions at $300, first come, first served? No.

Wont happen. Eve is too successfull. As mentioned most games going for lifetime subs are those who stinks and think/know they will go bellyup within 2-3 years.
If CCP should consider it, and seeing now that I have been member of EVE for 4 years allready - and MANY with me, the price would be rather high to be able to finance the game for everyone when cash is spent. After all CCP do needs money too to fund the game.

With lifetime memberships comes the problem of ToS towards those who has paid for such in the event of closing down the service. Which imo causes more trouble than gain - even if you clearly state that lifetime membership does not reflect lifetime in the ToS.
tbh the yearly membership should be more than sufficient, if one cannot take the time to renew once a year I wonder how they even can bother to log on at all.
Ramping up PLEX'es every month for X account is... less fun than renew once a year.

Think out how long will you plan to live. Buy PLEX for that time, insert them into your account. You now have lifetime sub.

ha! ha! I already planted my garden and it grows extremely well. It may sound like that to you, everyone tends to read text so differently!
I have been playing since the birth of eve online, during early alpha and on and off till my account now. All I'm saying is it would be cool to have a lifetime membership for those who want to pay for it. I know I can buy ten years worth of credit but I'd prefer to see the company offer. Maybe, a better more understanding of the eve player is he/she is long term, not part time. Maybe, that's what the devs should be seeing, giving more back to the long term players than keep on taking.
p.s. I mean some of you go on like everyone would take up lifetime membership whats wrong with that? the odds are it wouldn't happen, there are always those who wouldn't go the full hog! just like what makes eve tick over today.

The issue is that it doesn't make any sense. If the game survives long, and I assume that is what we all want, it will either cost thousand or will be bad for CCP and by extention to us. If it cost a lot, people won't take the offer, since just the interest on such an ammount could pay for a normal subscription indefinitely. If it cost too little, many will take it and after a time stop paying for their part of the upkeep/development and just become parasites from CCPs perspective.
It is a stupid thing to do either way and is used to get the last dimes out of players, when you know the game won't be supported for that long. It will only benefit us if only a few get it, so it doesn't harm CCPs future in any way and us are included in the few. It is a horribly bad thing as a long term strategy for both the players and CCP though, so you aren't going to get it.

On a side note, it is amusing to note that the Star Trek MMO publishers are offering life time subs before the game has even launched.

Omg...a company trying to make money! Shame on CCP.
You're comming back anyways (as many of us do). They'll lose money in the long run if they offer a lifetime sub. Simple, ain't it?

Edited by: equcin meey on 15/12/2009 11:48:27 so let me understand this you only play for 3-4 months a year, but you don't want pay for 3-4 months year, you only pay for 12 months subscriptions and if you did pay for 3-4 months then your accounts would be frozen an you would not be able to train skill's.So what this is all about, well you don't want to lose training time and you don't want to pay for a 12 month subscription an seeing that you only play for 3-4 months anyway.
all i can say is grow some ball's princess and make a choice,do you pay for 3-4 months an let the account be frozen or pay for 12 months so you can train all year round

Err, you already only log in, skillswitch, log out. And even that only do only 2 months a year?
What the heck do you want with a lifetime sub then??
Obviously you have no interest in Eve. Go away, play some other game.
Lifetime sub is crap, it is only done when a company wants to milk the last little $$$ out of a game which is already dead and which the company doesnt care about any more. Any other subsription model brings in a lot more money in the longer run - money which is needed if the game is still maintained, improved and expanded.
So, no. No lifetime sub.

i9 am drawing my own conclusions for that offer

divert power from port and aft to forward sheilds. shoot something see that OMG it terrible and then squirm back to eve like everyone else.
i expect the pvp to be terrible aswell.

Well lotro is still going strong with a new expansion and more in the works.
Same with several others offering lifetimes.
I have one with Lotro and go back to it now and then for a period and then when bored switch to something else.
Lifetime memberships are good for those that switch around a lot like me, it means we don't have to resub when we want to go back.
It also don't mean a game is dead or on the way there... SWG doesn't offer lifetime memberships...

I'd love Lifetime membership... but theres a big problem with it really... Everytime that theres a hint of EVE NGE Fail, all the Life membership holders will flood forums with death-threats and claims that their opinions are worth more than other pilots. |
