So tomorrow we're getting the new shiny Zephyrs, and griefers from all over the game will try to suicide them. The most viable way to do it is by smartbombing them on gates. My proposal - log in to your "toon" character (the one you don't train or use most of the time), undock in a pod, and if you see a suspicious ship without turrets sitting on the gate's insta - just park your pod near it. If the smartbomb takes three or four pods along with Zephyr, the griefer will go below -5.0 - which means he can't just go do a few missions and be ready to suicide again, he'll be stuck in lowsec like he should be. Griefers are a minority in Eve. Together we can win!

You're just saying that to make your negative standing much easier to do huh?
I don't really think we'll bee seeing all that many suicides with the exception of tomorrow and over the weekend, but I could be wrong.

But isn't it just easier to let the smart players not undock their zephyrs during suicide maddness and the less smart go ahead and lose them so the rest of us can see quicker appreciation on the ships?

Makes me wonder, how many of you and how many of them do you still have of the 5 year celebration gift?

I've one. I flew it around a bit, but ultimatley its just another shuttle. A pretty and different one sure but... it does nothing a bog standard shuttle does.
The Zeph looks good on paper... not sure how well it will work in W-space when covops frigates should do pretty much the same thing.
I'll fly it around for a bit, get bored and go back to my normal ships.

I have 3 of them (one on each account I had active at the time) and have been using it since day 1 and have never, ever had a problem. I also have an Interbus shuttle and have also never had a problem with that either.
Are there really so many brainless griefers that want to destroy this just to destroy it, and suffer the sec hit consequences? I know there are many, many griefers, but really?
Suicide ganking I get (as there is ostensibly a reward that goes with it) but destroying a shuttle to stop others from using it (when it's really useless and everyone has one) seems like a bit of stetch.
But perhaps I'm wrong. Guess we'll see. |+ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ +|

Shuttles pretty much insta-warp so it's pretty safe to fly around in. I just wish I could mount my snowball launcher on it and get some more ammo for it. I saved my snowballs and didn't realize they were going to melt. Now I have a pile of 600 melted snowballs (not sure how the physics of that works actually). |

Same mass, less volume. What you need is a squirtgun.

you know, a guy called nietzsche once said some stuff about the nature of tragic heroe's, how the tragidician makes them so beautiful and indeed heroic be heaping so much sweet, delicious bitterness upon them. funny thing is, this makes the heroes of eve online the griefers...folks like the ghsc or goonswarm. i find this funny as hell XD
and this is important cos your just making them more heroic by whining and trying to get them kicked out of empire :P

See? Griefers win, because nobody cares to stand up and do jack. 95% of players will just hide in stations for half a year because 5% decide to be ****s. What kind of sense does that make?

Right, keep coming up with excuses to do nothing.
It's only easy to rat in 0.0 if you aren't shot by the residents.

Just don't undock with the Zephyr. Fortunately for us these people have short attention spans and their own misery tires them quickly. It'll be fine as long as we don't give them something to target.
And as an added bonus, because of the twisted way they think, on their minds we will be griefing them by depriving them of such valuable targets. If they're not griefing they're being griefed. There's no in-between for them.

enough with the hyperbole - you mean that 95% of players (which i would dispute) won't use that shuttle for six months, which is wildly different from 95% of the players will sit in stations for 6 months.

You can suicide gank a Zephyr with a T1 Arty Rifter, no rigs (if I did the math/EFTed it right). No need for a smartbombageddon or w/e flavour of aoe suicide ships out there, unless of course you are talking about everyone's favorite station(s) (Motsu/Dodixie/Amarr to name a few others).
1 Rifter, 1 Zephyr.
If you REALLY want to make sure it pops, you can use a arty thrasher instead.
Insurance will basically make ganking free, so there really isn't much of cost, and the sec hit isn't to big.
So yeah, it doesn't really matter how long you wait. If people want it dead, its going to die.
