Drudge Report brought this to my attention. Not sure what to make of it.
What do you think?
A) Ironic Social Commentary, "Welfare is for losers, blacks need to stop this dependency ****." You know, like Borat.
B) Political trolling, "Hey, Tea Partiers, look at what Obama lets us do with your tax money!"
C) A straightforward sign of how degenerate the welfare community has become, rapping about food stamps.
Personally, I vote for C. Doubtful this guy is clever enough for A, or politically astute enough for B.
Also, read the Youtube comment section, its fricken' hilarious. Gives me some hope for this country after 2012. |

Yeah it's satire. If it were really a commentary on living on welfare I suspect it would be a lot bleaker.
Were you reading the same comments section as me? It was just full of racists idiots. |

There are two questions: was it intended to be satire, and is it satire?
I believe it was intended to be satire but often isn't. Food stamp fraud is rampant, and the attitude in this video reflects the attitude of some of the people who use it. I've seen it, I've heard it. I've seen the reverse side as well - people who genuinely need the help but can't get it because they aren't skilled at gaming the system.

None of those comments are nearly as damaging to blacks as the video itself is. Good satire requires talent, and the artist in the video wasn't good enough to pull it off. What may have been intended as satire is just making the people it portrays look terrible instead.
I saw a lot of comments in there from black people who were ashamed of the song.
But you know, this is the problem with identifying yourself by skin color. White people rarely feel shamed by the acts of other white people because there's little to no racial identity. And when one white person does something stupid on video it doesn't reflect on the group as a whole because of it.
When you have black award shows, a black cable channel, black music stations, black politcal organizations, and other institutions that continue to enforce the notion that blacks need to identify by race, they really shouldn't be surprised or offended when other people do the same, knowingly or not. |

Food stamps have been a popular topic in rap since the early 90's. It's right up there with 'sucka MC's' and 'baby mommas'.
You'll just love this, OP. |

There has almost not been any decent rap in many years. And it just keeps getting moe idiotic. |
