Edited by: Joshua Foiritain on 17/11/2004 15:54:33 I was unable to find any lvl 4 Agents who have either of these skills on the shiva server.
I did find 1 Caldari Agent who has these skills. Will i be required to betray my race and get a Caldari Standing of +5.0 just so i can use lvl 4 RnD agents or is there any chance these agents could be updated? ---------------------------

I've been concerned about stuff like that as well. Not only do people have to look at the size of a corp they want to do R&D with (standings go up quicker for small corps), they have to make sure the corp has high level agents, and on top of that you have to make sure the high level agents research in the fields you want them too. That seems like a whole lot of studying before making a decision.
But, just 'balancing' it might make the people that have done the study work mad.

Edited by: capt on 17/11/2004 09:06:23 Edited by: capt on 17/11/2004 09:02:30 Whatever gave you the idea this game was easy?
If you want a good agent, doing research in the field that you are interested in then it should be only normal that it would require at least a little effort to track that agent down. ( there is by the way a list somewhere of all corps doing research, agents and their research fields)
And if the only option is to start visiting a agent of another race, then big deal. Maybe it is intended that way for the roleplaying aspect ect.....
The posts I read here so far are just complaints/whines that things aren't going your way and that the other way is a more difficult one and that your really asking to make it more easy for you............ These complaints fall into the same category as complaints like : "I've been doing missions for corp X for months now and they don't have level 4 agents. This can not be, CCP has to reseed level 4 agents so I can have access to god quality level 4 agetns for this corp." You could argue that, when it is generally known that level 4 and 5 agents will arrive in a few months, it is pretty stupid to work for a corp that has no level 4 or 5 agents in the first place.
Point to all what I am saying is that it was intended from the beginning, although many have not perceived it this way, that you make choices in this game. Like for example if your going to do missions for a corp or few corps, you will need to investigate a bit if the corps are worth working for. Depending on the way you plan your role in the game. For example working for a corp and after months finding out that it has no reprocessing facility (when you need it for refining or all the junk you've amassed) and therefore you have to start working for another corp to get high enough standings so that you don't have to pay any additional reprocessing costs..... A thing like this could set you back for a few weeks......
Long term planning could be a good idea for some players.......

I checked all Research corps in the game, Gallente have 0 lvl 4 agents with these fields, Caldari 1, Amarr 1 and Minmatar 2. Yet a lot of l4 agents have identical skills, just a slightly different quality level.

That would screw up my standings and suck from a role-play perspective. Also the Gallente Federation not having any lvl 4 Agents with these skills doesnÆt make any sense at all when looking at it from role-play. The Gallente would have to be the weakest race due the complete lack of certain technologies.

No it wouldnÆt, on TQ you can see if a Corp has lvl 4 agents or not. You cannot see which skills lvl 4 RnD agents have. ThereÆs a big difference between the info not being there and not looking. If CCP had allowed people to view the stats of lvl 4 agents then people could have prepared and worked up standings with other factions.

Another worthless example, you can see if thereÆs a Reprocessing Facility in a station when you dock. You cannot view the Skill lvl 4 or 5 agents have.

So would doing some research before trying to look smart in the forums
Anyway, was/is no reason to assume that lvl 4 agents are balanced. They have been unusable up to now so perhaps CCP hasnt wasted time balancing them out between factions. But now that they're coming out it would be nice if they where balanced.
As for roleplay, You'd assume that modern day Research Corps would have an up to date RnD division.
So look else where if my "Whining" bothers you... ---------------------------

I don't really see how it would suck in a role playing perspective. And as to screwing up your standings or somthing.... Last time I checked Minmattar were buddies of the Gallente so visiting Minmattar R&D agents shouldn't pose a problem. I'm doing missions for minmattar corporations since june 2003 and have 3 galletne corporation R&D agents working for me.

Hmm I thought you mentioned earlier you had checked all level 4 agents and found out that your race was lacking agents in certain fields? This contradicts with this statement that you can't see which skills these agents have.
Anyway I don't really see what all the "brouhahahah" is all about. The difference in research points/day between level 3 and level 4 agents will probably be abyssmal at most. Most players have allready a full set of level 3 research agents with whom they have amassed a certain amount of RP that they wouldn't want to throw away when changing to a level 4 agent. Frankly it would only be a little bit interesting if you just got a BP and had the luxury to change agents or when you learned an additional level of that research project skill.
Seeing that tech 3 (of which we would think would be limited to higher level R&D agents) or any higher is still very very very far away, I really don't think any sleep should be lost about 1 or 2 agents for certain research fields that are not available for the particular race of your preference.
If one is not available for your race then one is surely available with a race that is firendly towards yours, making standings not an issue.

He checked on Shiva. On Shiva, you can see what fields they are in, on TQ you can't. You lose, he wins.

So, let me get this straight; the whole point of this thread is that one race is not as good at a certain area as some others ?
OMG!!! This should sooo be stickied !11!!eleventynub!!1!

my point exactly lolz.
sounds to me like someone won't cooperate with another race and only want to limit himself/herself to 1 race which sounds a bit like racism to me.
But I guess maybe I'm carrying it a bit far on that one.

Even tougher is that you need a corp standing inaddition to faction.
As of now upto level 3 you can work and faction corp level 3 with standing 5. Now you will have to move upto almost 7. You also have to work the corp for about 5. Soo I dont see why there cant be any Mechanical Engineering level 4 agents for Roden. Seem they could change the rocket 4 to mechanical 4. --------------------------
Garsh ma it soo cool killing people in there space thingies |

They could, but why should they ?
Hey, why don't we just have every lvl 4 agent be qual 19 and offer every research field ! That would solve the 'problem'.
