I have recently installed windows 7 64 bit.
Since doing so I have had some trouble running Eve online. It will run a steady 60 frames per second for 10-15 minutes then for 30 seconds to a minute it will run at about 5 frames per second then back to 60 fps. I have tried turning the graphical settings to low, turning off shadows, turning off audio etc etc. None of these seem to be the problem although the game works perfectly while in safe mode.
My PC's specifications are: AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 4200. 2560mb Ram. Geforce 9500 GT 512mb Graphics card with the drivers that Nvidia update service gave me (64 bit edition)(version : 8.17.11.9562). Soundblaster X-FI Sound card.
Anyone with a similiar problem or solution idea please let me know, any help much appreciated.

Edited by: Yodabunny on 30/12/2009 18:25:02 Put eve into windowed mode and pull up task manager, sort your processes by CPU usage and wait for eve to slow down. Something running on your PC is doing something every 10-15 minutes that bogging down your PC, when eve slows down you'll see something jump to the top of the list (task manager stays on top of other windows), that'll tell you what is causing the issue.
Safemode stops non system startup processes (iTunes for example) from running, so you wouldn't see this issue there.
If this is a consistent 10-15 minute interval it is not a driver issue. It is some piece of software trying to update or scan something.
edit to add: If this ends up being malware related you won't see it in task manager.

ah I meant Eve's safe mode (the alternative shortcut to eve) not windows safe mode :)

Same answer. Eve's safemode uses fewer resources, you won't see as much of a performance hit when something else ties up CPU time.

I have checked my processes and the only ones that increase with the slowdown are EXEFILE32* (the eve process) and audiodg (but only to around 2% although it is using 100mb memory which seems excessive for what it does).
Even so I am getting 40% on my system idle process still and still have atleast 30% of my memory left. I'm so confused. I have ran a couple of spyware scans and turned up nothing (i only re-installed literally 2 days ago).
