I'm currently running eve on ubuntu with the precompiled package: wine1.2 - Microsoft Windows Compatibility Layer (Binary Emulator and Library)
I want to increase my perfs as much as I can, would it make a dif. to compile it myself?
I don't know if the precompiled package are running 64bits but would that make a change etc?

First, i don't know what wine you are talking about. The latest wine version is 1.1.35.
Second, wine will not compile for 64bit. It is a 32bit application including very optimized 32bit assembler and so on.
This could mean any kind of difficulties when compiling on a 64bit system, if you are not experienced. When compiling it yourself, you best do it on a 32bit machine or with a 32bit linux. Of course you can then finetune wine to run on a specific machine using compiler flags and so on...

To put it bluntly:
You won't get any noticable performance boost, because you compiled wine yourself.
But tt can be helpful especially for those distributions, which use pulse, like *ubuntu, Fedora and such, to compile your wine with pulseaudio support or other stuff, if you need to run special -older- games or special programs for work.
