I recently made a new alt and want to get into PvP finally, after spending too much time focusing on PvE. With all the fancy FW stuff, I was wondering if that would be a good stepping stone. I am stuck between Minmatar or Gallente. Minmatar is bigger from what I can tell, but I heard some people saying that it is just too big. Would I have better luck finding groups with the rustbuckets or frogs? |

Caldari is still outnumbered by the gallente, despite their propaganda attempting to prove otherwise. So best fights are had here. |

Squids field multiple fleets everynight with BC gangs. Frogs can't always match that due to a combination of FC power and pilots. Though, we're slowly growing a new group of FCs and pvp corps but it takes time. Despite that, we can still field at least 1 BC gang on a nightly basis to take on whatever. The fights are tons of fun with people fielding BCs and T2 stuff. And of course, you'll find tons of small scale skirmishes as well.
Minnie side has fights but it's more dessies and fewer BC gangs. So the view is that they're waiting around for the Amarr to skill up before things heat up in a few months. Or so I've been told from a fellow Minmatar pilot who is very active.
Minnie/Amarr FW zone is smaller and less dynamic in terms of pipes. Cal/Gal is bigger and thus there are many enclaves for fights to be had. And the number of pie gangs running through our space always gives both sides alternatives as well.
You'll find fights in both zones but it really depends on what type of fights.
And while you didn't ask, it's probably easier to farm up here because of the larger number of systems held from both sides. C'est La Eve :)

Ahahahaha Ahahahaha Ah man. I didn't realize the thread had hired a comedian. One need only look at the listed members number.
"But that's not all active pilots!" "Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't aware the Caldari was the only militia with non-active members." I'm just a Caldari pilot fighting for the Gallente in Minmatar and Amarr ships. |

Dude, you know Caldari is the newb/PvE race that everyone who ever grinded lvl4 missions had standings for, and was swarmed when FW first came out by people who have now long since quit the game. All the militias suffer from this sort of bloat, but the CalMil list is far more distorted than the rest. |

I respectfully disagree. I have seen A LOT of Caldari out moving around lately and not all of them are plexing. ^_^ I'm just a Caldari pilot fighting for the Gallente in Minmatar and Amarr ships. |

Personally, I think all the "They have more #s than us!" propaganda is just a bunch of chest-beating nonsense. At any one time, Minmatar could outnumber the Amarr or the Amarr could outnumber the Minmatar. Same goes with the Gal/Cal front from all the BRs I've seen and from talking to pilots on both sides.
For example, just last night the Amarr had three ~20ish man fleets (I.LAW, Fweds, W-BR+Co) for a total of 60 dudes beating up on us ~20ish man LNA fleet in the USTZ, where supposedly we always have 2:1 advantage or more. We fought valiantly and dished out some pain, but it is just one example of the "AMARR SO OUTNUMBERED" theory is pretty crap.
tl;dr- There are good fights to be had whether you join Minmatar, Amarr, Caldari or Gallente. Sa souvraya niende misain ye. |

It depends on what you want out of FW, if you want cheap faction ships with plenty of money making ability then join the Minni's but if you want good small gang fights with plenty of give and take then join the Gallente. They have some really good corps and FC's with a ton of fleet actions every night.
The Caldari/ Gallente front is the best one to be in right now for experiencing what FW should be, the Amarr/ Minni front is pretty one sided right now in terms of systems and numbers but I think after some CCP tweaks it should even out eventually. Before you decide on which side you should remember that no matter which one you pick you can always live in the other groups space and fight with them if you like but I would think more in terms of what I wanted to get out of the FW experience then join the side that gives me the best options for that. |

This. It was for a long time Gallente outnumbering Caldari in lowsec - but definitely not since the patch.
Also, you could join Minmatar and fly in Gallente/Caldari space. Get the minmatar LP and the Cal/Gal warzone. |

Here are links to 4 different fleet fights in the past week that I have experienced. And this is just for one week. I'm not looking to epeen so people don't need to go pointing out that they were outnumbered or outshipped and start drama about who won or loss and why. I'm just simply showing that there are tons of fleet fights occuring on the Gal/Cal front as Gunthar alluded to.
1) Battle Summary for Akidagi, 2012-06-17 01:08 - 05:41 . 30+ man gang of kitchen sink BC gangs. It was very spontaneous and just happened out of nowhere. http://wispa.killmail.org/?a=kill_related&kll_id=13686316
2) Battle Summary for Murethand, 2012-06-20 04:43 - 05:07.
Fought outnumbered and decided to use plexes to our advantage to hold the field as best as we could despite losing the iskwar. It was more or less a standoff. And while not alot was killed, it was tons of fun fighting this outnumbered. http://wispa.killmail.org/?a=kill_related&kll_id=13716053
3) Battle Summary for Asakai, 2012-06-21 04:54 - 06:34.
Got reports of 2 different squid gangs. One was a 20+ man BC gang with shield logi that is listed below and another was a 10+ man BS armor gang. There was also intel about a large nullsec AHAC gang in the area so we were trying to avoid that while pursuing our intended targets We don't know what happened to the armor gang, but we put together a BC gang with T2 support to take on the BC gang. Damn good work by our logi pilots. http://wispa.killmail.org/?a=kill_related&kll_id=13726610
4) Battle Summary for Aldranette, 2012-06-22 03:19 - 03:43.
They were trying to bust the bunker 1 system away from our HQ. The Gallente pride was at play here and everywone was willing to X up as it would be embarrasing to let WTs bust a bunker in our backyard without at least giving them a fight. They were fielding Tengus and scimis with Tier 3 sniper support. We weren't even sure if we had an FC around but once one appeared, form up time was less than 5 minutes. Thanks to all the amazing hero tackle who kept stuff pointed.

B.llcrap numbers. As already said, vast majority of those pilot numbers are inactive accounts (I know since I have at least a dozen). Caldari are and have always been outnumbered except for the first few months of faction war. You know this as well as I. |

Tell me, what makes you think a larger proportion of Caldari are inactive vs the Gallente?
It sure isn't numbers in space: Multiple large Caldari gangs roll around every night, far more numbers than us Gallente have. |

Funny when I dont ever see them. Or are you implying you are not so hot sh.t after all and this is just another thinly veiled cry for some magical CCP nerf bat which you already got them to apply to all things Caldari? |

Well, usually when I am playing you're asleep so, that might explain it.

Quite the opposite actually: Instead of cry about how the Caldari have more numbers than we do, we still go out and fight them outnumbered, and usually manage to get an equal kill ratio despite being significantly outnumbered.
EDIT: And nerf bat to all things Caldari? lol wut? Caldari has
a) The best rats (even more so after the patch removing ewar) b) The best ships (esp compared to gallente) |

You were actually in that one so im very surprised to were not aware of it, and that c2n wast even 2/3 of the ships on field lol.
These were all over the last few days.
No one has asked for ccp to stop caldari forming up lol, just to balance occupancy war, preferably in the direction of pvp. |

Only way ccp could balcance FW is to hire some good player to play this game. But sad thing is that CCP want that player pay for this. So only way to balance this game is that those who find it too hard for them quits. |

Considering that I have never seen 9000 people in Cal Mil chat... I log in on both sides of the war and cal and gal normally have about the same amount of people online at the same time, problem is most are farmers on the cal side. While this has changed slightly since inferno the gals for a long time definitely had more PvP pilots out there looking for fights than the cal has. While we are slowly building back up on cal side of things for PvP, we still don't have the on call BC/BS/cap logi fleets the gals can put up. It will get there though. |
