I will be doing mostly PVE quests. Should I buy a myrmidon or should I save up for a battleship?

If nothing else, and depending on what you've flown so far, a BC will give you some experience with being a larger, slower (aka easier) target for the rats – something you'll definitely want to get used to before stepping into a BS.
In terms of SP, the Myrm is a reasonably good preparation for something like a Domi since you'll be reusing and extending what you already have: drone and armour tanking skills. If you fit guns to it, that won't save you much (apart from the prereqs for getting large guns for your BS), and it might even teach you some false lessons about how well you can expect your guns to hit the rats. If you go for something other than a Domi, you only really reuse the tanking skills (and if you go for a PST Myrm, you won't even do that).
So as long as you keep in mind that the next step will make you even slower and make you hit worse (but harder), a Myrm is a decent enough training platform for the Domi. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I enjoyed my Myrmidon in the era before I could fly a Dominix. I found it to be an excellent level 3 mission runner. ...this doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

Edited by: Smk56 on 03/01/2010 06:37:15 the myrm is like a ****ty domi. It takes pretty much the same skills and everything. Skip it if you like and go straight for the domi. It's not like it costs much more either.
The only time I would want a myrm over a domi for lvl 3s that require a bc or smaller to fit through the acceleration gate.

i would use a myrm for anything under level 4's. once you got enough cash to buy your domi, and the skills to t2 fit it, then look at stepping up. also make sure you get decent fits for it, make a post on here and you get wide criticism from all people and you will see a trend with 1 or 2 fits that work well, if you slap one together yourself or ask your "uber pve mission runner corpmate" your likely to fail!
good luck, and over here in eve its mission running, not questing :)

Wrong...
If you are PvE there is no reason to go BC's if you are gallante, the domi is just as cheap, and all the skills except BS and large guns translate to flying cruisers or BC's.
The brutix, does not fit well unless you use blasters which suck for PvE, it takes to long to get into range.
The Mrym has a low drone BW which cripples it as an effective ship.
Here is a low skills Domi. which is cap stable and can run pretty much all lvl4 missions, you can swap down to medium guns for level 3's
[Dominix, Low skills] Large Armor Repairer I Large Armor Repairer I N-Type Thermic Hardener I N-Type Thermic Hardener I N-Type Kinetic Hardener I N-Type Kinetic Hardener I Damage Control I
100MN Afterburner I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I Cap Recharger I

then as you train you can go to this a slightly over tanked sentry boat.

Above post speaks the truth.
I really like the idea of the Myrm, but it just fails next to the Domi.
