Here is my own take on what a Sisters of Eve Science/exploration ship might look like. I know a lot of explorers including myself would welcome a new exploration ship class so i decided to design my own.
Final concept: Linkage
Completed model: Youtube||EVEfiles
A little Composite: Linkage
I Wanted to go for a slightly aquatic look but also pull in design elements from each races ship architecture. The model was created in Lightwave 9.5. Not the greatest 3D software but its all i know how to use so far. It was created for my final assignment in a multimedia course i completed earlier this year. This was my first time Texturing using UV maps. It turned out pretty well considering i had about a week to texture the entire craft and was feeling around in the dark half the time.
I would have liked to put together full stats and bonuses but I enjoy the design aspect more and there are already some very nice ideas out there by people like Nova Fox. Though feel free to suggest ideas for names, stats, bonuses etc. The stuff written on the concept was just a placeholder really.
Also, here is the short presentation i did to accompany the model. It shows off some of the individual parts a little more.
Presentation: Youtube
Enjoy

Well, in inspiration you show caldari and amarr ships... But SOE is (as far as I know) mostly gallente. And the result is also looking quite gallente.
Very, very good work, I wouldn't mind if they implemented the ship using your model.

Thanks. I didnt show all the screenshots though as it had to be around 2 minutes but i did look at alot of gallente ships.

Nice ship Myshella.
But I don't think we'll see it ingame. I guess, if ccp wants community to undertake ship modelling, which is the most interesting and creative part in development work, they would open a contest.
The ship is however very nice. Sorry for other destructive words, but...
If you may look ingame into Sisters of EVE market activities they are suppliers of Polytextitles and Oxygen like helper of poor people. They don't have shares in production of ships, so the idea Sisters of EVE does have their own exploration ship is curious. Maybe another corp may have such an exploration ship. It looks like Amarr design mostly, so try find a more suiting corp.
However, hope you're not stop modelling even if the ship won't go ingame. Your work is nice (private opinion). And look for official contests

I'm sure you can find similarities for most of the art in this or any other game. Or any piece of art for that matter. It's all been done before in some way. -

I never really intended it to be put ingame at all, though that would be pretty damn awesome . Its just my take on what a ship of this class might look like. And also to raise interest in this type of ship and inspire ideas enough that CCP will seriously consider making one themselves.
Sisters of eve are a very good corp to manufacture these ships. They already have the most advanced probe technology and they are interested in science, especially the eve gate itself. Its very possible that they would want to learn as much about wormholes and Sleeper technology in order to bring them closer to their god. idk just an idea.
Might want to read this. Linkage

edit: Oh and more on topic I'd have to say that any exploration ship would probably be very lightweight to prevent wormholes from collapsing. Your ship looks really cool, but it also looks pretty heavy to me. Anyway, definitely a cool piece of art.
Thats a very good point. It actually slipped my mind completely when i made that concept

hm, neither Food Relief, The Sanctuary nor Sisters of EVE itself has any market activities in probes. It may be, that not all market data may be listed there, have to ask a GM or someone. Never tried using probes, cause you have to be very fast to catch it. Am more the trader one
SOE are interested in the EVE gate (article) and sleeper technology (market activities), yes. I read the article again and the most informations I extracted from the last paragraph.
Quote: In recent years the Sisters have become more methodical in their approach to ĉunlockingĈ the EVE-gate and have undertaken numerous scientific experiments on the matter. [...]
But nothing told about their shares in ship-construction, nor ship-designes. You may induce several scientific researchs and dozens of scientific projects on EVE-gate, but inventing a new ship ..guess they would ask Carthum Conglomerate, Rhoden Shipyards, DuVolle Labs, Lai Dai or someone who have shares in ship-construction.
However... somehow I heard somewhere EVE gate is the old gate to solar system SOL with good 'ol earth. Maybe from EVE intro or something. So why does SOE have the insane idea god's on the other side?

Edited by: Nova Fox on 03/01/2010 17:25:37 I gladly welcome a competitor for building the sisters of eve ships, and it seems you already have taken a look at my my idea thread If you want to I can add your ship to the roster of ships as a competitor I can easily make room for.
Overall the modeling is done very well. The flow and profile isnt argressive which is good thing but the vertical plane has some bad flow to it going very sharply up and twice on the bottom. Great Composition and colors however hide most of the annoyance of bad flow cept twoards the bridge area where it looks glued on instead of built into the ship.
Who knows maybe a few more tweaks and you can make it a tech 3 ship instead :)
keep up the good work. also +watch'd you on DA. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 27DEC09

I know what you mean about the flow. I really would have loved more time to work on it but i had about 4 weeks from the first brainstorms to the completed model. I had some other ideas where the vertical bits were at more of a 45 degree angle, shorter and on both sides but i had to ditch anymore changes because i just didn't have the time.
Free feel to add my ship in your thread and thanks for the watch

If you could send me the model file (3DS I think or convert to XBF or Blender project) I got an XNA program for WinX that can load the XBF models and it can be flown around, complete with "eve style" camera.

I always thought the Myrmidon was very Minbari inspired already, particularly when you compare it to the Sharlin

I would like to send the model file but its a bit of a mess tbh. most of the textures are huge and not optimized properly. After the stressful time i went through just to complete it on time im not really prepared to go back and fix it all right at the moment. Your idea sounds very interesting though, ill keep that in mind if i decide to improve my model.

Edited by: Ti''anla on 06/01/2010 15:31:22 Interesting design o.o Though the tower on the underside with the dish looks.. a little odd. Lord knows how it could be remedied, but something about it just doesn't mesh with the rest of the aesthetic.
That aside, though, if anyone's making a dedicated science and exploration ship it would probably be the SoE, and as an explorer I'd certainly say this is a bloody good idea.
So, well, I'm definitely signing on the idea of a dedicated science and exploration ship.

To make the point a little more clearly, they manufacture the only faction probes and probe launchers. This certainly puts them somewhat in the exploration spotlight, I'd say.
