I would like to know if people think that this is a good idea.
Upgrading turret effects so that when tracking fails or the amuintion fails to strike the target (like your own ship) the amuintion streak will appear to go past the contact point (shoot wide) rather than smashing into the vessel with a flash? It would really add to the "cool" factor of this game.

Most people have their turrets turned off to reduce the load when loading on a very populated gate in hostile territory. You will also find that your turret fire and damage indicator is rarely synced. ------------------------------------

I dunno, you could make it swing a little wide, but it should still appear to hit the ship. IRL, slugs that big usually don't have to directly hit things to do the massive damage that they do. 1400mm artillery works out to around 63 in in diameter
What I'm getting at is that things are perfect the way they are. Lasers probably "flash" because the shields/armor dissipate or refract some of the energy. Blaster/Railgun charges probably "flash" because that would be the plasma "bolt" disintegrating upon impact or proximity, and railgun charges would do so on impact..
Projectile turrets probably "flash" even when they miss because most projectile shells have a proximity fuse/timer set to air burst (unless they are pure kinetic penetrators, in which case the flash would be from either the shield burning off some of the penetrator or the hot gases and metals thrown into the air when they impact.)
Sorry if the above post didn't make much sense, I'm sleeeeeeeeeeeeeepeh.......

'Hope it's alright saying it here, but it seemed relevant:
What I'd like to see on the turret effects front is a less whip-lash style return to idle when they lose tracking. For some reason it feels really immersion breaking to watch my turrets gracefully trace a target across the sky, only the snap back into position once it enters their sibling's cone in a single frame.

lol, im not complaining about the flash when the target is hit, as is the turret amination is perfect for a sucessful hit, what id like to see is another animation for shots that miss. Even if its just for us pve-ers who leave the turret effects on, it would be cool to see shots that miss go past the target rather than hit like it is now.

I agree with this, the terminal ballistics of EvE notwithstanding, I'd like to be able to see laser pulses flash past my interceptor instead of impacting harmlessly on my hull. It's pure eye candy, and shouldn't be a high-priority thing, but if the graphics monkeys get done with planets and stuff and have a few minutes before they get laid off, maybe they could have a look at it? ======================
