Amarr does armor and cap transfer.
Caldari does shield and cap transfer.
Gallente does armor and tracking links.
Minmatar does shield and tracking links.

Best small gang logistic is the scimitar since small, fast gangs tend to have shield tanking ships, but if you were doing an armor HAC roam an oneiros would suffice as well (I've seen HAC/recon gangs that run both scimis and oneiroses).
I'd go with the Scimitar. ________________

I'd go for the Scimitar. It's very nice for roaming gangs. ...this doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

Edited by: Seralder on 06/01/2010 07:22:14 t2 Oneiros Gallente is perfekt Armor-Rep for small gangs... can fly verry good solo. t2 Guardian is verry good with big gangs... but only effective if you got 2 Guardians linked :)
T1 Exequror is also a good PVP ship for remote repairers.

Edited by: Marko Riva on 06/01/2010 09:15:21 There's 4 ofcourse but 2 of them are sub par. The two good ones (have been mentioned already) are Scimitar and Guardian. The difference is ofcourse that the Scimi reps shield and the Guardian Armor so it all depends on what your gang setup is.
Thing is that 0.0 pilots have a very fixed idea of what combat is, "small gang" in their eyes is by definition a fast roaming hac/recon gang and therefore will be shield tanked, requiring shield reps from a fast moving ship, hence the Scimitar. But in YOUR case, if you're not in 0.0, small gang could very well be armor tanked ships making the Scimitar completely useless. So you have to be careful with what you ask for as most replies will ONLY cover the replyer's situation, but perhaps not yours.
The Scimitar can be VERY fast which makes it more difficult to catch and you can actually turn it into a decent tackler (who runs from a Logistics). The guardian is the better fleet support and if you'd have 2 of them in one fleet they enhance eachother's performance (and you should probably buy a lottery ticket as well, as that never happens).
On the whole if you're in 0.0 small gang=shield and fleet=armor but outside of that your best bet is going to be armor, normally. As you're in Caldari FW you can expect a lot of Caldari ships (I guess?) so shield might be more useful in THAT situation, do NOT make the mistake of training for a Basilisk but go straight for the Scimitar.

Scimitar is the best if you're solo. Guardian is the best if you're buddied.
Basilisk is as good as the Guardian, provided you're in a shield based heavy RR gang - which is less common in my experience.

How exactly do you go about soloing something in a logistics ship?

Solo logistics = the only logistics supporting a gang ________________

If it's just a matter of which cruiser skill you're going to train, you might want to ignore the question of logistics for a moment and consider what other ships that skill will buy you.
The logistics ships are just a 2+2 matrix of choices between shield or armour, cap or tracking. All of them are useful and all will be welcomed (albeit some more than others).
The actual cruiser skill, on the other hand, determines which HACs, Recons, CSs, HIC, Strategic Cruiser and Logistics ship you will get access to. On balance, you're probably better off looking at that collection of ships and figure out what you'll want to fly, and then see whichever logistics ship you get as a bonus. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

That was largely what I meant, however the Scimitar does actually make quite a hilarious assault frigate :).

Edited by: ry ry on 06/01/2010 21:40:41 wot he said. a solo solo scimitar is amusingly effective against anything small, frigate sized and crunchy. it's pretty nippy, second only to a vaga last time i looked. (which was about 6 months ago, so what the **** do i know?) has an abundance of mids and can carry a handful of drones. you won't fit many guns on though, so unless they've been nerfed in the aformentioned months consider throwing some lasers on for lulz.
soon-to-be-dead inty pilots will assume you're a poor lost sheep who got seperated from your gang and dive in for the scram. \o/
OP: i went for the scimmy, it's a fairly fun ship to fly in gang and everybody likes scimitars, but once your gangmates find out you have one expect to be flying it until it dies :( train a ****ty logi instead

For small gangs a lot of people seem to prefer the scimitar, which makes sense. If you can get more than one of them in fleet though, Basilisks are pretty handy. At logistics 5 they can fit 2 large cap transfers and 4 large shield transporters, and can pretty much negate any neuting ships you come across with awesome cap transfer bonuses. That extra shield transporter over a Scimitar isn't too shabby either.
