Strong supporter of the new font here, and especially no longer having forced all caps. Still some issues that have to be tweaked; I hope links to imgur to illustrate are okay.
First, in most places were there are tabs, the vertical position of the font is about 1 pixel too low. See the first five screenshots here.
Second, the numbers for velocity and ammo seem too large and misplaced, see for example.
I agree that commas look too much like periods.
I and l (uppercase i and lowercase L) still are too nearly identical.
I'm split on whether the font is too goofy looking for a hard sci fi space game.
edit: I see, on the map, that system names, landmark names, "you are here," and "waypoint" are sill all caps. That should be fixed. |

As noted above and having tested a bit more might I suggest the text in all tabs is centre aligned in the vertical plain and not bottom aligned as now. When a tab does not have focus the bottom of the text is obscured by the outline of the current selected window.
Also a small bug in PI; When in planet view, Left click a Launch Pad, Left click the storage icon, Hover the mouse over any goods and a long black tooltip will open but be completely blank. I think it should display the contents in numerals.

Larger font-size is much better. But font itself is... a little off for a sci-fi theme I think. Still, larger is better. I don't have to strain to see the overview contents now. "How do you kill that which has no life?" |

Got to see the font for the first time this morning, looks good. Wish that was in place during the roam I was in last night. :-)
Regarding the choice of font itself, I don't see a severe problem with that. Most are probably complaining about the zero - it looks like what I used to see on my TRS-80. I'll personally take that trade-off though since the numbers are critical to see accurately, and they're mostly expected to 'look like that' where they're seen the most - Overview.
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

In most places I like the new font, but in the overview, the essential central window of EVE, it's generous size makes it hard to get all the information I want without extending the OV across a third of the screen or something. A smaller font size in the overview would be great. |

I don't like the new font at all, fact is I think it's horrible.
However a lot of people seem to like it, and I understand why it needs to be changed, but I don't think this is the right font for the job. In some places it's bulky and very heard to use, in some it's weird looking and heard to read, this font confuses me and it's taking me more time to navigate menus.
I suggest something more like the current font on the live server with some small edits to some letters and numbers that are often confused for each other to make them more clearly different, not changing the the entire font in every menu.
Infact at first I thought my client window had been hacked or something when I saw a cheap looking font, it all looked very botched and I was concerned, and did not want to login for fear of some sort of hacked fake patch.
Clearly that is not the case as I looked it up on the forums here and my fears were put to rest. But the fact it drew concern means there is something wrong with the change.
I've said my peace, now I will shut up and leave it to CCP.

New font is pretty bad. It makes everything so unorganized and makes me feel like I'm playing a "B" rated game that i can download off of steam for $5 bucks.....
The old font was not so "White" on the overview, it hurts the eyes with sustained game play.
Ammo Quantities in turrets/launchers while in space are hard to read and should be bigger or reverted to the old font style that is currently on TQ.
Links are now "white"? Why, this makes it more difficult to see that there is a link.. Revert it to the old style. People are going to spam jita anyway lol..
When you click on a ship in space, the font looks good. If the spacing and size can be pasted to the entirity of the game and to every menu, it will look much better. Especially if it isn't so damn WHITE.
The font is far to WHITE in the Skill-> History tab, Standings, Security status, and employment history.
The font is of a good color in the Skills tab, Jump Clone.
These are only a few that i notice are pretty crap............... |

The font at 100% GUI scale is way to large. Overview and other GUI elements now take up way too much space in my opinion. I have to scale the GUI down to 90% to get a slim interface similar to that before the new font. Unfortunately the GUI downscale also shrinks every button which makes human interaction with the interface harder.
I'd request to use a smaller base font size, because it's sad that we now get to see less of the game and more of the windows and tables than before ... |

When i started playing EVE I loved how every little details added to the atmosphere, like the old Warp Drive Active text in roman-like font.
The new font looks like it's made for MS-DOS, not a sci-fi game. Readability is great but it dosnt fit the game, I'd rather keep the current TQ font. Also the overview is too large now. |

They added an option in Overview Settings to reduce the size of the text. That was the first thing I looked for when I undocked as, yes, the default font is too big and bright. I'm really concerned about all this new bolding. |

CCP has been on a slow moving trend over the course of many years of destroying the game's visual appeal in the UI. I'm just going to leave a link to this old picture here, the feature of which I miss very, very much.

The small font for overview at 100% of GUI looks fairly bad, with wrong kerning and blurry letters everywhere. It's also hard to see the commas and dots. 0.0 system names for stargates are good examples of this.
I think the font at small sizes doesn't look right, but that may be due to the kerning being wider than usual and taking up too much space in an UI that was designed for the old font. It looks like the font is too big generally at 100%, and if I switch to 90% it looks better but then the UI is too small . Can you try to make them closer in size to the current UI font?
On TQ the vast majority of text are in a subtle white/grey colour (which isn't the same as light grey that's used in Sisi chat or in notepad/MOTD) that looks pretty good while not being too dark. On Sisi, many of the colours are just white, and so looks ugly, at odds with the rest of UI. I would like to see the white/grey back as default text colour.
Oh and bring back the capitalization for headings Seeing things like 'Warp Drive Active' and 'Nothing Found' not capitalized doesn't look right... |

font size is better than the old, BUT i think it is too wide. you loose much space. is it possible to make it more condensed in width?
in context menus the text seems very dark/grey (compared to e.g. text in overview or market), i would also like it brighter...
could we get an option to set the font color for the text ourself? like you can do now for the background? more little ideas that need your support: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=261507#post261507 enjoying the order cancellation confirmation? sometimes CCP listens - there is hope after all :) www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1431503 |

UnEve-like? I don't think the old font was recognizably very Eve-like. Do you all want a BSG font or something?
This new font is far more readable than previously. BOLDED ALL CAP text for some reason is not quite as readable. I don't know if its spacing or too many lines going in the same direction, but it is busier somehow.
The scaled UI really makes a difference. No more screwing up my resolution to enlarge the text. I find I do not need a big change with the new font to read comfortably. For the record I'm nearly 20/20.
The first level in the context menu chops off all bookmarks, at 12 and 13, to where I cannot tell similar bookmarks from each other. Making folders would clean this up neatly, but we will never make that first step in the bookmarking process. Could we scale the context menus also? |

A bit late to the party...
The problem with the font is the chunkiness of it. Sure it is easy to distinguish O from 0 but at the cost of aesthetics. It is an interesting balancing act.
There are quite a few good monospaced fonts that scale down nicely. My favorite being ProFont, I use it for programming and my consoles. You can get it here: http://www.tobias-jung.de/seekingprofont/
I would love to see the option to be able to choose my own font for the UI. |

What he said. I don't really mind the new font (I think it's completely horrible compared to the old one, but I can live with it), but seriously, the amount of information displayed just got cut by 50%. The market window, the overview and "show info" require gigantic amounts of space to display the information they displayed before.
I'd scale down the UI (in fact I did), but that scales down everything else too, which, for some portions, I don't like.
I'd really only want the letters to be together more tightly, much like the old font, and for gods sake, please let us reduce the font size. It's ridiculously big. Try buying something. |

Exactly, CCP by reinventing the wheel you will have a new font that will be not much better than the existing one.
Have you guys tried in-house using some common fonts like Verdana?
Actually, can you let us pick which font to use ingame?

Please give us the option to reduce just the font (not the entire UI including HUD, icons, buttons, etc.) to roughly the current TQ size. It'll need to be readable at this size too...
Alternatively give us the option to disable the new font and continue using the old one.
Some of us still use normal-sized screens that run at 1280x1024 - we don't want to have to buy a 30" screen just to be able to display the same amount of information as we can currently. |
