Destroying or manipulating a forum that could cost real money for someone other than the intended target is a bad precedent to set. The term hacking does not just mean breaking through protection it also covers unauthorised access. This includes using passwords that are not yours to use to gain illegal access. As the forum is out of game and probably hosted by a third party web host it is entirely within the forum owners rights to prosecute for unlawful access. Most forums have an agreement that has to be signed before an account can be registered. The user who leaked the information signed this making them in breach of a legal contract.
If you start to affect things out of game then the end result of that is people turning up on your doorstep not a nice experience.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO POST OPINIONS ON SOMETHING YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T READ PROPERLY.
A disgruntled member of AB-C with an admin account, gave us the admin login :
Garst Tyrell > so whats the username and password? Baron VonDoom > Battlestar Crusader, crusader
There was no hacking, there was some posting. And plenty of reading. And laughing.

Right back at you CDLoon.
Maybe it will help if I point out the line in the standard forum agreement that you have probably signed many times and never read.
"You also agree to NEVER use another person's account for any reason. "
So a disgruntled person giving away his account details does NOT entitle another person who is not the rightful owner of that account to use it.
It is still illegal and can be prosecuted.
By your logic if a disgrunteld bank employee gave your details to someone else they should then be free to empty your bank account and tell everyone how clever they were to do it and how its not hacking because they were given the details.

I dont see anything about using a given account, and furthermore :
Originally by: "Computer Misuse Act, 1990
This act mentions 3 computer hacking offenses and defines them as follows: 1. Unauthorised access to a computer system. 2. Unauthorised access with intent to commit or facilitate commission of further offences. 3. Unauthorised modification of computer material
Dont think we violated any of those either.
Carry on.

So at what point where you an authorised user of the forum, it was not your account therefore your access was unauthorised.
Its not my forum so not my call I also do not give admin access to anyone on forums I run. However if it was my forum I would by now have started legal action EvE is a game and should stay in game not on personal forums that are usually paid for and not always by your intended target.

Im not going to argue with someone who thinks legal proceedings over an internet forum would get you anywhere, however.
A forum administrator, someone who is in charge of RUNNING the forum, gave us an account.
To say thats illegal is like me giving you the keys to my car and then trying to claim that you stole it.

The definition of steal is "STEAL - the wrongful or willful taking of money or property belonging to someone else with intent to deprive the owner of its use or benefit either temporarily or permanently. No particular type of movement or carrying away is required."
So if the car was taken and never returned then it would equate to stealing yes.
However I am done here. My point is that private forums for corps, alliances should not become the new tools for attacking or undermining other players in EvE. That should remain in game as I am sure many people who run forums for eve leave them woefully unprotected and others may hack them which is not something I would like to see happen regularly.
There have been legal cases already regarding forums and they can result in prosecutions (albeit minor) so I would not assume it would be rejected out of hand if a case was made.

I don't think it was so much actual "bragging" as an expression of pity.
