When the server comes back online after a DT i often get told i am number XXX in the queue, if i wait long enough i will eventually get logged in, but that can take some time. That is all fine, nothing wrong with queues, however, if i restart my client and try to login again it normally logs in straight away without any queues. So, how does the queueing system work and what is the point behind it if i can just jump it by restarting the client? War is not about dying for your faction, its about making the enemy die for theirs. |

normally unless htey have throttled it for some reason it just means that node you are logging into has gone mad, close the client and re-load and you will log in right away -- | Capital |

As far as I'm concerned, CCP should trashcan the queue and replace it with an image of a waiter or waitress saying, "it'll be about twenty minutes."

When you connect to the cluster, your connection goes to a proxy server. If the proxy server has high load(> 90% CPU time), then you are put in a queue.
However if you restart the client, chances are that the load is low again, or you connect to a different proxy server, and can log right in.

From my observations, the login queue doesn't work and has never worked. As the others have said, if it pops up, just restart the client and try again.

the time when the queue works correctly is when ccp throttle all connections, then you have to wait in line, this is done after a patch [sometimes] or if there have been problems with hot fixes etc. what happens is the node you are connected to will only allow you to progress to the next level when it is told to let more people in - I've seen this on Sisi much more than on TQ where the hardware is much improved.
when it happens to you 99% of the time , it is down to the node you are connected to having a fit - this will work if you just leave it [usually ] but if you fire up another instance of the client it will probably connect you to a different node [as that one is lagged out] so you'll get in right away.
hope that helps
