Don't know about the ISK/hr with a Rorqual but running three accounts at the same time on one machine is not a problem as long as it can handle it. I run three account in windows mode on three monitors with no problems at all. Heard of others running more with no problems. Just depends on what your system can handle.

I dont own the best gaming machine in the world but am able to run 3 hulks and an orca in window mode on one pc without any problems. Isk/hour is not bad, though i tend to play while doing homework so I am sure I could make better isk if I actually concentrated on it, but with 9 Mining Drone II per hulk being supported by Orca it doesnt take me long to lay waist to a ore belt.

I'm usually running 4 accounts when I mine, 1 orca, 2 hulks and 1 freighter. Can basically complete a whole belt, take the freighter to station, take orca and hulks to another belt and start mining, warp freighter back as hauling.
Pretty easy stuff if you ask me ^^ I have the Orca and the hulks on my main computer, and I have the freighter on my laptop to grab cans and load up on ore :)

How are you able to load a freigher in space exactly?

Edited by: Vaughn Blackleg on 11/01/2010 23:24:03 Edited by: Vaughn Blackleg on 11/01/2010 23:22:16 My set up is 2 towers, 4 screens, i run 5 toons at once with no problems, not expensive systems just what works, one toon in a command ship max leadeship, implants and ganglinks, 3 hulks max skils implants faction fits, one hauler that can jump into a bs to assist with rats. I do not tank the rats i farm them as best i can, with faction fit hulks you can tank most spawns. I did not use mining drones before i got the faction fits only sheild rep drones to assist in tanking as i killed off the spawn. I have now gone back to mining drones. As far as isk an hour totally dependent on what you are mining. The rorqual throws great bonuses but, unless you are brave using it in a belt invites loss, leaving the rorqual in a pos is safe but you lose a toon, At what point the rorqual bonuses make up for a full hulk in the belt, that i do not know. My numbers might not be the highset possiable but its a system that works. implants allow for mining upgrades to be maxed on the hulks and are worth it, as is the mining foreman implant and gang links. Have a itty 5 for your hauler with rigs and max skills, fit a tractor beam and a salvager on it to clean the wrecks and pull cans. The hauler pilot can even rat other belts as you wait to haul to pos or station, which can pay off as well. Others will crunch the numbers and what not but you have to find what works for you.

5 accounts: 4 Exhumers, 1 Orca, all on one laptop. I turn down all the graphic details and quality settings to low/none and run everything in windowed mode at 16 bit color depth. This works well for my laptop (which was top of the line 9 months ago), though I don't think I'd want to push it beyond running 5 clients, a firefox browser, and my Excel spreadsheet program.
How much I make per hour varies with prices, how much time I'm willing to spend monkeying around with sell orders (especially if I sell anything in Jita), and how well I micromanage my mining lasers. But 30 to 32 million per hour tends to be a fairly respectable average for me.

gezz i feel so poor, i have 1 account and just getting into mining so be like forever before i can afford a hulk but like in 12 days will have all the skills for it, woohoo, anyways trying to save like crazy and i must say mining is not as bad as i have always thought. kinda fun to me, free's me up to watch tv or read while playing eve, where pvp always keep me glued to the screen. so my question is about what kinda isk can just 1 hulk/player make an hour? will it be enough to keep me afloat money wise? or will i always be poor?

If it makes you feel any better... while hulks are expensive today, they used to cost much more. 500m isk if my memory serves me right.

Hulk can make over 50 million/hr if being boosted buy orca/rorqual lows as t2 mining upgrades using t2 crystals mining arkonor can be a bit more if using mining yield implants in highsec be around 10-12 million/hr max but most likely less cause rocks pop to fast

my record is 7 accounts on one machine with one monitor, 1 orca, 5 macks and 1 hauler. however all windows were at lowest possible settings, resolution and overlapped so I could see the cargoholds. And I usually kept the orca minimized to reduce the load on my cpus. |

You can scoop stuff from a Corporate Hanger at an Onlined POS in a freighter.

Edited by: Vilgan i''Lakin on 28/01/2010 20:40:42 I guess you are planning on using the rorq actually in the belt? Or rorq with 3 accounts doesn't make a lot of sense imo. 3rd account should be hauling.
I used to run 5 accounts like this: 4 hulks (getting boosted by a friend's rorq) about 2700 m3/min each on 1 computer 1 hauler in an itty 5 on a laptop
You can do the math yourself as to profits. Your profit per hour is your m3/min * 60 * isk/m3 of your roid * efficiency %/100
The key tho is actual efficiency. Like, what % of the time is the hulk actually cycling ore? What % of time is lost to a partial cycle? This is the main reason I refused to mine veldspar. I would typically run around 90% on A/B/C ore, 94% on mercoxit, and like 45% on veldspar (not to mention wanting to slit my wrists after an hour of veldspar). I saw a LOT of miners who would do a lot of things OTHER than actually cycling lasers (hauling in hulk or switching to another ship to kill rats) and then wonder why they never made as much cash as they expected.
Main key to making lots of isk mining: Find a good mining corp! In order of priority they should: 1) Have boosting consistently available in your TZ (like every day.. not once a week). 2) Live in 0.0 (altho high sec is fine till you have a bit of initial isk) 3) Have access to ABC/M ore 4) Not take a stupidly huge cut of mins value. Some corps are badly run and pay their members like 50% of mineral value and wonder why all the good miners leave. 25-30% cut is reasonable.. 40% or more is not (imo).
Once you have a corp, just keep your efficiency as high as possible. Tank your hulk to ignore/kill rats without needing to switch belts. Don't overcrowd belts (10 hulks in a belt is moronic imo.. 4ish is about right unless dominion changed this). Don't get hulks blown up due to stupidity. Do everything you can to insure your hulks are actually MINING as much as possible.
Oh ya, 1 final tip on running multiple accounts: run them windowed and exactly overlapping. If I had them on different parts of the monitor (and didn't make the windows super tiny) I had a major performance hit.
I haven't mined in a while (bout 8 months) but this should likely all still be valid. My biggest day ever cleared about 3.2 bil isk in one day. |

This is more hardware question but how do you connect three monitors to a PC? Do you have two graphic cards or how?
I'm running two clients, two monitors. 3rd monitor would be nice.

Dude, 25-30%? That's insane. 10% is the max I would pay out.

The higher cut assumes the corp is doing everything but mining for you. Boosting, compressing, refining (5% is the usual alliance refine tax I think), and shipping the mins to Jita. Obviously if you are doing most of this yourself then the tax would be less.
I've never seen a good mining corp survive off of 10%. Feel free to post some counter examples so people can rush off to join this uber mining corp :P One of the ones that had a great model (imo) was Lone Star Joint Venture and they took 30% and still had tons of people eager to join (and not much access to A/B/Cs either!). Hint: if a corp buys your ore at less than the mineral value of the minerals inside the ore... its still a tax, its just slightly more hidden.
