Hi,
Recently switched to linux and the only thing binding me to the 'other' operating system is my favourite game...EvE.
Well, spent a merry few weeks trying to get it running under wine which i eventually managed to do using the 2.6.31-17 kernel and the disable network trick (tried 2.6.32 but ran into ATI driver woes).
Long story to short - Had EvE running under wine perfectly last night but when i went to log in today - EvE started, once past the splash screen i re-enabled the network and then i was taken to the EULA screen as normal...Except the EULA screen was opened in a very small non-resizable window (i say 'window' but don`t think it is because i cant seem to interact with it fully, can click on things but cant alt+drag) in the top left corner of my monitor. When i tried maximising the window the EULA stayed where it was and the same size - All that happened was the wine window got bigger leaving the EULA displayed, still in the top left corner still the same very small size.
I should probably point out that i cant see all the EULA when this happens..only a small section. I have tried grabbing the section that is displayed but ALT+Drag doesn't seem to work.
Bleh
Really hope you can help.
Many thanks in advance :)

wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1280x960 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"
Tried using that? (Fixed to your resolution obviously)

Hi and thanks,
Yep that works...finally Yaaar!
New problem i`ve been encountering however - well 2 problems actually.
Firstly, leaving game to my desktop(to browse net etc) with the aim to go back into the game i.e Alt-Tab doesn't seem to work - just results in flipping from game to desktop back and forth rapidly and constantly until i re-boot. Is there an easier/workable - Noobish question i know.
Second problem is periodically not getting into the universe - Hanging on character selection progress bar. Again, i have to re-boot.
Many thanks for previous workaround.

Edited by: Serene Python on 11/01/2010 00:15:54 My god do ubuntu users really reboot that often? I tried ubuntu and screwed it up so badly only option was a reinstall(thank goodness it was only installed on a spare hard drive). Try emulating a virtual desktop. (winecfg>graphics>). This fixed alot of crashing issues for me, though it still occasionally happens its not enough that I really give two damns.
