Edited by: Navtiqes on 11/01/2010 21:49:09 EVE wins that every year, not that it doesn't deserve it cause it sure as **** does, but at this point we're just going through the motions and faking a surprised responce ;)
It should be called "Best MMO of the year apart from EVE" to give the rivals a chance. |

I don't remember social networking or planetary upgrades being introduced... Do they play the games? Or do they just read press releases and go from there.
don't get me wrong eve deserves to win but they need to get their facts straight. On the other hand everyone has there own opinion and you can feel free to disagree with my sig.

Maybe you need to upgrade your graphics card, cause I notice the change to planets (and moons).

Filled with zombie pod pilots. Remember when you are podded and die for the first time you are dead and gone forever with only a copy of your personality installed in a clone. Enjoy your afterlife.

http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/feature/3894/The-List-The-Top-Five-PvP-MMOs.html
#1 EVE ONLINE
While this is actually my least favorite game on the list to actually play, I canÆt help but marvel at the player-driven world and conflicts within EVE. Hosted on a single shared server, EVEÆs player-driven economy is the cause of all conflict in the game, and proof to this gamer at least that money is the root of all evil. Corporations (guilds) fight over resources. Players back-stab, blackmail, and coerce each other in order to get what they want. Over the course of nearly a year one Corporation actually spent the time and energy to infiltrate another in order to virtually assassinate the CEO and steal that corporationÆs property which they had gained access to. The equivalent of roughly $10,000 was lost in the crime, as was the victim CEOÆs expensive starship. The craziest part? This is all sanctioned and allowed within the gameÆs rule set. ItÆs definitely telling of the nature of man, but at the same time I find it inherently cool that a game and more so its players could enact such a scheme and story of such grandeur.

That's a hell of a promotional for Eve IMO.
I left my children with a babysitter and went to a party with my wife around Christmas, and while my wife was showing off our new baby to the ladies a bunch of the guys were standing around the snack table chatting about our hobbies. The conversation turned to MMOs, and then to WOW in particular. The host mentioned that I played Eve, and the incredulous, intrigued, and worried looks from the other MMOers out there was absolutely hilarious. Eve's reputation for ruthlessness is epic... all conversation of WOW immediately stopped, and they started asking me all kinds of questions like... "Is the player economy really player driven?!" "Do people *really* infiltrate corps and pull off massive theft?! It sounds so epic!!" "Do the game devs *really* allow scams like that?" "What's it like to play with a bunch of crazy people?" (thanks man, you know *I* play Eve....) "Did the game developer really cheat at their own game?!?" (SIGH, only sortof. Gah.)
Anyway, I thought I'd share the story ... a bunch of WOW guys totally forgetting about wow when in the room with a Genuine Eve Player.

Haha, awesome. =D
I had a similar experience a few weeks ago when I was helping a neighbor shovel his car out of the snow. He played WoW.
"Do you play WoW?" he asked.
"Nah, but I've been playing EVE Online."
"Woah. That's like the one where, if you die, that's it."
I didn't feel like getting into the specifics.
"Pretty much." I replied.
A weird silence followed, and I kept shoveling. In my head, I grinned.
