I think it is time to reconsider the balance between Afterburners and MWD's. Atm, there are only niche applications for afterburners in PvP. The reason is the huge difference in top speed between the propulsion mods.
My idea would be to buff both modules. 1. Afterburners: Buff the speedbonus to 350-400%, while adding a sigbloom of 250-300%. 2. Microwarpdrives: Increase thrust by 33%.
This should make Afterburners a viable solution for speedtanking + allow ships with fitting problems (say Eagle or Nighthawk) to switch to AB. The buffed Microwarpdrives would allow blasterships (mostly Gallente) to get faster within range and save some cap for crossing a certain distance. Amarr and Minmatar would have a choice between both propulsion mods.

No, I think it's fine as it is. What you're suggesting would just make AB's overpowered. For one thing MWD's can be disabled by scrams meaning anyone with an AB/scram/web fit will be able to control the range of the fight giving the AB user a significant advantage. If anything the MWD's need a bit of a buff.

Protip: ABs are only viable on frigates in lowsec or for highly specialised applications (deadspace, sig-tanking scimis). On any other shipclass in lowsec and for anything in 0.0, an MWD is mandatory. Having one option be near-useless and the other an essential part of any viable fit doesn't constitute balance.
Anyways, fix ABs by removing the mass penalty and swapping for a hull-size restriction: frigates can only fit 1mn, cruisers can fit 1mn or 10mn, and battleships can fit any size they like. Then increase their speed boost by 20% or so.

I like that you currently have to use a dual-prop fit if you want the best of both worlds.

Well, idea is for the standard burn-out-of-bubble scenario to give a choice. Either say 1000 m/s with 33% better acceleration (and the chance to get scrammed) or 700 m/s with standard acceleration but lower sig. |

Bolded the part that annoys me the most about AB vs MWD. |

It's honestly fine as it is. I am really envious of all the Ranis pilots that have been enjoying the awesomeness of dual prop for so long now that I fly Dramiel a lot though. ___________________

Agreed, leave them alone, they're fine.
What the OP is proposing is essentially turning AB's into MWD's. wtf is the point? Both serve a purpose, and they serve them well.
And to the guy that said MWD's in 0.0 space is mandatory: Dumb as cheese. I do recommend MWD's in most cases, but AB's have plenty of uses.

one thing i would support: less mass addition for afterburners (maybe even none at all) - putting the gist back into logistics |
