Edited by: DevJoe on 13/01/2010 11:54:00 not sure if this is the right place to post this but im hoping someone would be able to tell me what my problem is, as i'm quite new to the game (which i find amazing btw :D ):
I run two monitors atm, a 22" and a 17" in the highest res for both. When i run the game in full screen mode on my 22" i can get between 200-300fps and it just feels amazingly smooth.
Whereas, if i put the game into window mode when both screens are enabled with Nvidia's Dualview i only get 20-30 fps. However if i enable one monitor by itself and put it in window mode it runs as well as in full screen in terms of performance.
My specs are:
Intel Q6600 OC'd to 3.0 Nvidia GTX 260
If anyone has any ideas why this is i'd appreciate it big time, I seem to have a weird feeling it may be an option in the nvidia control panel.
Cheers,
Joe

1) Using two monitors instead of one can double the load on your video card. Here it depends on what your video card can handle.
2) Going into Windowed mode decreases your FPS.
3) You can have one window in Windowed mode and one in full screen - but if you click in the windowed instance - the full screen will drop to the task bar.

Im only attempting to run one eve program.
Surely it wouldn't decrease FPS that much? I mean, i can go into windowed mode on one monitor while the other isn't connected and still get the same fps as full screen.

Try and disable anti-alias if you have it enabled.

I'm probably being a bit slow but i couldn't find the anti aliasing option in the eve video settings so i disabled it in the nvidia control problem and the problem still persists :(

Just drop the graphics on both, get rid of the useless effects and if you know how to... start overclocking. I don't have a problem however I keep fraps open to make sure I can keep a reasonable fps on my client (only displays on open one) You can always just use the in built Eve FPS monitor.
I usually average about 60fps on both clients on my laptop. Only got a nVidia 8600M GT and use a standard VGA connection rather than HDMI.

Try setting Interval=1 instead of Interval=default in the Eve client.
Your monitor won't refresh 200-300 times per second, so why feed frames in at a rate you won't ever see. ______________________ Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University. |

If even a single pixel of a game window crosses the monitor boundary, it will cause a heavy performance drop. Try to set windowed resolution slightly smaller than desktop resolution and leave some space around the edges of each monitor, see if you still get such nasty performance drops.

Also, make sure you have the proper display adapter selected for each client.
And, for me, internval: Immediate in the settings VASTLY improved performance for me.
I'm running an AMD Phenom x3 720 2.8ghx triple core, with a Radeon 4870, and I can run 3 clients, two on one monitor, all at more than 60fps.
