I was reading some of the Dev blog about the forthcoming Walking in Stations and got an idea to toss around.
Why not have optional minigames that correspond to difficulty levels according to the missions they are in? There could be certain "haunted" stations where a pilot can dock and clear out the monsters for extra isk and loyalty points. This can use the same first-person game mechanics that is being developed for Dust 514 and WiS. The premise for these are that certain stations have been infected by a mutant virus that have turned the occupants into zombies. These stations should have all the dark atmospheric effects of good survival horror games such as Resident Evil. (I know the zombie scenario is a little worn, but the monsters could be anything; aliens, ghosts, etc.)
The benefits of these minigames is that they would spice up missions in dedspace complexes and allow for extra isk and loyalty points. Also, by putting these "haunted" stations on a separate server node, would free up some the heavy traffic on TQ. It would add a new dimension to those late night mission runs. What do you think?

I think it is a great idea just too bad the dust is going to be for the consoles and not on PC. If dust was also PC they could easily just add this. If it is only for the which I think is the case then the amount of coding work is going to be limiting.
Also forget zombies I want to shoot all those genetically modified furriers, Rougue drones that pop out of human corpses I read about in the chronicles. If working for minmatar free some slaves If for ammar get some slaves. If for caldari I dunno get profit reports or sauerkraut and for gallente definitely **** holoreels or exotic dancers. But top of the line would be a mini mission for the blood raiders to ambush a personal transport and bleed the passengers

I like the idea. Almost like having System Shock 2 within Eve. Epic! :)

There's a thread where people were asked for suggestions for how Walking in Stations can improve missions, drop your suggestion in there, if it hasn't already been covered (it probably has)

"Monsters" are a generic term that carries over from the early RPG days. I used the term to distinguish from "Rats" that we refer to when we are talking about generic NPC's in Eve. My thought is that the NPC's in the stations could be a bit different than the NPC's that randomly spawn in belts or missions. Also that there could be a different level and feeling of menace attached to the station NPC's. Perhaps the "monsters" could be pink bunnies or giant bees (like Goonswarm?), but I think it would throw the ambiance off.

I think ghosts and zombies are a good idea. Aliens however not so great since this game is supposed to be realistic and as far as I know there is no proof aliens exist.

(LOL) ...this doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |
