I've been thinking about the various types of modules available, and wondered why they haven't implemented this yet.
Molecular/Barrier Destabilizer A high slot module that, when activated, reduces the targeted ship's resistance to one type of damage. The effect would work similar to the way resistance modules work, with each consecutive destabilizer having a diminishing return in its effectiveness. Molecular Destabilizers would work on armor, Barrier Destabilizers would work on shields.
Thoughts?

The purpose of this would be... what?
PvE in a Drake would be cool (read: overpowered) I suppose. As would missioning outside of Ammar space with lasers.
Stealth bomber gangs would be uber with a few of these fitted.
How do you propose this fits in the stacking order?
And again, what's the overall purpose?

At the expense of having one less bomber shooting missiles? Besides, as I said there would be diminishing returns.

The purpose would be just another module type to add variety to the utility high slot modules.

probly would work as part of the ECM tree. and on a new jamming frig? could be cool either way they use it. but to OP on just the regular ships for use. i think fitting something like that should be ecm ships only.

I think the purpose is obvious...to open a big defensive hole in your target. This could be seriously overpowered though...Four or five Drakes, each with one of these fit to reduce kinetic resists could seriously bring some hurt. I don't know how but it would need to be properly balanced...either a specialized ship that can use it or some sort of penalty to make it worth using but not overwhelmingly awesome. Maybe the ship using it also gets hit with the penalty? ---------------- A million faces, each a million lies |

Would you use scripts to select the resistance type to be lowered, or have multiple modules?

this could maybe work like ganglinks, so you can only fit them on certain ships? and i'd have to suggest non-scripted, or the scripts are just very big.

Make this a type of e-war like a target painter, since, like a target painter, this is effectively a 'damage mod'.

Well, my thinking was primarily that it have diminishing returns so that it can't be stacked like 20 times to reduce resistance to zero. Perhaps a maximum of -25% resistance to any given damage type, or perhaps the module just reduces resists across the board.
Also, suggesting a specific ship type would be a good idea. Make it so that it requires either a specialized ship, or enough PG, CPU, or capacitor that you'd have to sacrifice your ship's fit in order to have one unless it was an e-war ship.
I didn't suggest it specifically because I felt there was a NEED for such a module, but merely because I thought it would be cool to have such a module type.

Other topics put in light a lack of the gallentean command ship... and command ship class in their RP role (Command the fleet and stay on the grid, no matter the DPS, the first thing is to tank, boost the fleet and give broadcast, etc). This kind of module can perfectly give a serious boost to the command ship class and dedicate them much more in the role they supposed to be before. I think :
Barrier destabilizer Only one module can be fitted by ship.(command ship) 99% reduction in CPU needed if fitted on the command ship. (5000 CPU/500pwg)
5% less Shield resistance on target per command ship skill lvl.
This module's effect can be modified with scripts.
Molecular Only one module can be fitted by ship.(command ship) 99% reduction in CPU needed if fitted on the command ship. (5000 CPU/500 pwg)
5% less Armor resistance on target per command ship skill lvl.
This module's effect can be modified with scripts.
Scripts: damage type (EM/kin/therm/explo) 150M3
required skill:
for the molecular :
Primary Skill required Leadership Leadership V Secondary Skill required Armored Warfare Specialist IV LeadershipLeadership I Armored Warfare V LeadershipLeadership I
Barrier : Primary Skill required Leadership Leadership V Secondary Skill required Siege Warfare Specialist IV LeadershipLeadership I Siege WarfareSiege Warfare V LeadershipLeadership I -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note : I think it should take a massive amount of pwg. The ship fitted with this module have to decide to do the DPS or the tank of a command ship. It should not be able to do twice. The pilot have to choice fitting the shield or armor module, not the two at the same time or it will be ohmygodanotheronenozh'sidea.
