Everyone always says that low sec is a place where people that are borderline live and all they ever do is grief poor passerby's.
Well I am setting the record straight, today I went to low sec and met the nicest people and they even offered me candy.
Sitharies > ...we have candy =) Sitharies > owww yeah we have loads feel free to come get some Corduroy Rab > sweet, you all are really too kind, letting me come here and share you candy Sitharies > you see we can all get along Corduroy Rab > yeah, i guess the forums are full of liars, evertime i go to low sec i meet nice candy giving people Mugre > i know huh Sitharies > yeah damn liars all we want to do is share Corduroy Rab > i should go to the forums and set the record straight Sitharies > please do
So here I am, and I have this to say: Low sec is full of nice people giving out candy, and if you want candy you should go there, because they are really nice people. ---- Proper piracy starts at home. |

Low sec candy is the best low sec candy! The fact that it's probably laced with acid, rohypnol or cyanide doesn't change a thing about the good intentions of it's residents.

If low sec pirates want more targets they just need to learn a little restraint.Part of the problem is that the pilots who live there are so ******ed they have to pounce every ship that comes through. Just last week I saw three -10s pounce on some 2 month old char in a frig in a belt. What's the point? he's not going to drop great loot and sure there may be tears but the chances of him feeling safe in low sec and bringing better ships and more expensive modules in later months is gone.
By camping the high sec border systems and indescriminately killing anything that lands in a belt, low sec pirates ensure minimal traffic and targets. They should be greatful CCP threw them the FW bone that they did.
Full disclosure : yes I've lost frigs low-sec ratting, so feel free to ignore my comments as the ballad of the butt-hurt.

It's sort of like a catch and release policy.
If you find a noob in a frigate in lowsec, you don't insta gank him, you ignore him so that he feels safe when he can afford that faction fit CNR and decides to accept that low sec mission.
But, whatever. Frankly, this iks the central fact that separates pirates from gankers. Pirates understand that they need to encourage people to visit low sec by leaving them alone, up to a certain point.
Gankers just want the kills - even if it's just a shuttle. --Vel

The problem with it being 'just a shuttle' is the reverse psychology crowd thinking "They won't attack a measley shuttle! I'll use it to carry all my BPOs to my corp's new POS."
Of course, you feel kind of stupid when you pop it and there's nothing to be grabbed, but it's the chance you take when you're too lazy to slap a cargo scanner on.

Actually people in low-sec are pretty nice, as long as you move more than 2 jumps from high-sec.
Or maybe I just get that impression because im alone in local ;)

I try my very best to be courteous and good-humoured whilst attacking people and ransoming them in lowsec. After all, it's just a game and we're all real people behind the avatars. Besides, a little humor makes it easier to accept the reality of the situation when I've got someone's pod warp scrambled and am (politely) asking for an appropriate amount of money. ---------- Dear CCP: please refresh the forum avatars more frequently. You know, I'm gonna get flamed to hell for saying this... but...
so far, in my experience, low-sec dwellers (and our highsec evil cousins like spank) tend to make up the bulk of the part of the EVE community that is actually not socially ******ed.
Hell, the fact no carebears could drum up any sort of real intelligence channel or defense against hulkageddon once again showed that the majority of them are antisocial recluses that take their "solo" game veeeery seriously (as evidenced by death threats, whining endlessly and hatemail).
TL;DR pirates are nice, carebears are psychotics with aspergers.

nice post i moved to low sec myself and i've liked it better, imply that a station camp with a can in front of a school in 1.0 is lame will get some seriously indignant responses from the GANKbear lol (thats a awesome word by the way)
but if anything the low sec kill on sight aggression is risky and those who practice it are worthy of respect as well as caution.......or fear.
When the low sec dwellers spot a new toon trying to hack out a living in low sec they should play the game.....set up a ambush, teach some tactics....by example and find out the character of your new nieghbor......but still you're gonna eventually pod kill the poor sap......
Not me, of course.....but those others.

Nah. I tend to not shoot shuttles (too much). But there is always that temptation and the knowledge of sod's law that states the last one that passed was a goldmine or something.
...So I end up playing right into bait just to see what the trap is. Inquisitive nature n' all.

nice or not nice... hmm... which am I?
I usually don't say anything while ganking whatever I can, but if the person I killed tries talking in local, I will usually teach him how to better fit their ship or give them advice on how to avoid getting ganked... I guess I'm nice... but I do always forget to ransom and only think about that after it's too late "Join the Alliance, see the galaxy, meet interesting people... and kill them."

Lowsec'ers tend to be their own worst enemys. Case in point, I run into a bunch of pirates in my APOC one time, they saw I had left Drone regions an was in xxDeath (old char) They lock me down an demand 1B or els....lol so for the price of a 100 mil ship I am to pay 1B? uhuh.
Anyway after setting self destruct, ejecting all cargo an blowing it up They podded me an abused me for wasting valuable minerals (load of morphite)... Anyway end of story is if the idiots hadn't of tried to screw me for isk an just attacked, I'd prolly have been so busy I wouldn't have had time to ditch everything an blow myself up.
When pirates try an ransom, we both know you ahve no intention of EVER letting the person go, you will 110% kill him an pod him an take whatever survives. Then you coem here an complain ppl dont like you. heh

You wound me sir. It is corp policy for The Bastards to honour all ransoms, and any member who violates this policy is instantly kicked from the corp without question. I know of other fine lowsec pirate corps who have the same policy. ---------- Dear CCP: please refresh the forum avatars more frequently.
