What profession in EVE sees the most profit in EVE? Is it missioning / reactioning / trading / mining?

Edited by: Direstorm on 17/01/2010 12:01:00 Running wormholes is rumored to give you up to 100 million isk per hour per character if you have a dozen strategic cruisers running a class 6.
Missioning gives around 10 mil per hour, mining can give up to 50 for 0.0 or wormhole mining (which are high-risk) and reactioning requires lots of real-life research time investment but afterwards acts as a multiplier for medium to large quantities of wealth, which you can typically do in addition to another activity some of the time.
Missioning: Low skills, low rewards. Mining: Low skills, low risk, low rewards-> High skills, high risk->high rewards. Wormhole Hunting: Medium to high skills, high risk->high rewards. Reactioning: High time and isk investment, wealth multiplier.
Arrange in order of what I found to be most to least boring, Reactioning (hauling) < Mining < Missioning < WH Hunting.

Bar none: Market Close second: Mission carebearing
All others have insane profit potentials, but the most steady income comes from the above.

Trading (either station or hub) has the potential to net a billion+ a day depending on how much money you have to start and how good you are at it.
Missioning (level 4) can do 40M+ an hour. (Assuming you loot/salvage everything with an alt, while your main completes mission.
Mining can do 40M+ an hour in 0.0 or right around 9M an hour (maxed Hulk) in hisec. More if you have Orca/Rorq boosts.
There are a ton of other options that give decent payouts, but I find the three above to be the most reliable way of making ISK. Bottom line, if you have access to a decent level 4 combat agent, then you should not have any issues with making money in Eve. Otherwise, get good at market trading or mining. -----------------------------------

Trading has the most isk potential far and away. Nothing can come close to it... potentially.
That said, trading takes research. Items constantly go in and out of profitability and you need to be able to stay on top of what is currently profitable to buy/sell.

If your way to get fun in EVE is to grow your wealth and get muchos iskies, Trading is definitely the best profession.
Btw, I think that EVE has one of the most realistic economy simulator of the MMO world.

killing sleepers makes alot if isk from my experiance. even calss 1. 2. and 3 wormhole will make you hundreds of millions in hours. i use an orca as a mobile base so i can survive in WH's for up to 1 or 2 weeks if i have to and i just clean it out of all its sleepers.

Being Ricdic or the CEO of a large corporation with a non-zero tax rate are apparently the most profitable professions in the game, from what I've read.

Wormholes *can* be profitable, but you gotta know what you are doing and how to do it quickly and efficiently.
It's not steady isk unless you are very organized and geared. Missions are much easier to do and more consistent forms of isk. Sad really.

Highest possible income in eve is (CENSORED) until i see 500 mill in my wallet labeled "PLS TELL ME"
On other note... anything you do there is a dum way of doing it and a smart way of doing it. Usually when you do stuff the smart way you make 2 extra zeros

Trading is one of the most profitable i have heard of people doing 1b in a day...
Then again scamming sadly is also quite profitable given a gullible bit, i mean even friends of mine got scammed before ... paying 500m for a 40m ship is surely profitable and easy to do lol

Personally, trading would be the best, but you'd need some sort of capital, you can easily start with 1m isk, but the more you have the more potential of how much money you can make becomes (if that made sense).
I do a little trading - such as buying in Jita and hauling to low/null sec to seed the markets there and make a tidy profit, but not much, and I do it just for fun. But there's people who have alts in Jita trading without moving and they make huge amounts of money. - A good start to this would be to researc the market, and learn Excel.
Mining is a steady source of income, higher skills means more money, more risk is more money as well, as stated. Currently Mercoxit > Arkonor > Bistot > Crokite (IIRC).
Missioning is good too, but I find it incredibly boring, comparable to mining, so you need a good attention span, but both mining and missioning can be done relatively AFK in high-sec, assuming you're not at war.
Reactions - I have no experience, but I assume it would be a good money maker. POSes are a rather large investment, you'd want a medium or large no less.
WH's - lots of potential depending on the class, also huge risk of dying to either the rats, or other players. You'd wanan bring some friends along to do the rats there though, sleepers are hard. Also you'd want a POS.

1. Trading with large haul scamming being numero UNO.
2. Wormhole, tech 2 bpo and high end moon goo production/harvesting being number 2. Note suiciding in empire has potential in this category. Capital ship production high level.
3. Missioning, invention(really depends and can sometimes go up to number two), mid level moon goo harvesting and finally researhing and selling bpc's(can go to number two on huge scale) would be number 3 in my opinion. Capital ship production lowlevel.
4. Low level missioning, pirating(can go up a notch depending), low level moon goo harvesting, low level researching.
Just my opinions... |

I have spent time in class 1 and 2 wormholes and I have never come even close to this. I end up far better off running L4s. I guess I'm doing it wrong? I run solo with a heavy pulse Harbinger. 6 guns, 1 salvager and 1 probe launcher.
Also: 1. Sitting on high end moons. 2. Scamming / Corp theft.

Most profitable I've found without brining on suicidal tendencies from boredom are
Suicide ganking and AFK Lvl 4 missions and before anyone shouts no I dont mean macro
tbh as long as your not too bothered about sec status and go do a few missions now and again suicide ganking is gd for the wallet and the lols

Have to vote for WH mining/anoms.
Other than the occasional interloper, most WHs are pretty quiet.
If your corp/alliance is well entrenched, there's not much to worry about.
So you can probe down anoms, pewpew some Sleepers, and sell off ribbons and ancient tags for tons of ISK. And then you swap ships, and gobble up all the Ark/Bist you can manage.
WHs make my wallet happy. |

You'll probably end up doing a mixture of a variety of things, as you need to mission to get startup Isk for trading, mining for "Materials for War Preparation" storylines, and manufacturing/research to build your own ships, drones, mods, etc.
If you're starting from scratch, I expect missioning/trading should consume most of your time as your goal is a decent stash of Isk. Bite the bullet and loot/salvage every mission, no use leaving Isk on the battlefield. It breaks up the mission monotony and gets you used to buying and selling in the market. With a single account, your training should switch between a mission runner main and a Trading/Mining/Mfr alt.
Your second alt could train into Exploration, with your main doing the complexes.
If you've got more than one account you can accelerate this process.
You will occasionally hit the boredom wall and say "What's next?". You might slow down in one area and put more time into another, etc, etc.
If you join a corporation you will have the benefit of resources and other player's experience to assist you, but nothing is free, as your time and what you do will be at the whim of whoever runs the corp.
