I sure hope so, there are only really three ways to map for the average player who does not specifically specialize in things like fleet command, etc and only two of those are clearly combat related or dominated.
Most of my combat plans make a neural map that lasts for more than twelve months easy, but it is the fleet skills, drones, electronics, and etc. that I really need a month here or there where I can train towards them, and then switch back to my primary map.
It really isn't a big deal if they provide it through the NEX, it is not as if having more fleet command skills or drone skills makes me omnipotent, but I'm certain there will be no lack of doomsayers claiming this is the end. ...clearly the Ishukone Watch Scorpion is the fifth horseman of the Apocalypse, i.e. the Brown Rider, otherwise known as Poopie. |

I hope so... if the devs want to completely kill off the game, they need to really do something more stupid than all the other stupid things they've done added together.
Also, where is the report button on the forums? Why was that taken away? |

The report post button is the little flag right after the date and time of the post.
People screamed when CCP said they would put remaps in the Nex store, saying it would be "selling win". So the plan was dropped. Now you want it back?
I would like re-sculpt in the Nex store, costs increasing depending on the amount of the body change. Race and sex would be big, skeletal changes in the middle, and soft tissue changes would be small. CCP employees should never proclaim a feature to be awesome. Only subscribers should. |

Exchanging an in-game item (PLEX) for an in-game advantage (remap), while not competing with or obsoleting any other profession in the game? Sure, why not. |

Well those that did not think that remaps would be sold for cash, at some point after they were introduced were, at the least, naive.
Once learning skills were removed it was elementary to give the option to remap. I mean you can plug in and immediately take out implants, but you can not alter your attributes. Now, it should be a costly process. Maybe have the price needed to attain a remap directly related to the time elapsed since the last remap. I do not propose to know how to balance this, but it sounds better then, one paying (?) amount and can changing their attributes daily.

Well since you can buy plex and turn into aurum, you can actually buy your remaps with isk... The Codex Astartes guides us....*someone poke and whisper something* Oh wrong scenario...WHERE IS MY GIANT AQUARIUM?! |

Exactly, one of the few truly beneficial things I learned from watching Blizzard's PR machine is their explanation of the costs associated with optional modifications to one's character.
As they pointed out, they obviously could not bear the database load, capacity, or overload on the verification process to allow free realm transfers, faction transfers, etc. because if hundreds of thousands of subscribers per day were taking advantage of this to exploit the system (such as transferring gold from one realm to another) it would cause limitless issues for them.
Their answer to why such things then cost up to $25 a pop? It was not about making money, it was about not only ensuring that the people taking part in this process were serious enough about it to pay an associated cost, and to limit the volume of such requests. Profit, in a literal sense was in them not having to hire a thousand new techs just to handle 'free' realm transfers, something that would obviously take directly away from the revenue stream used to develop the game itself.
Now, while I do not feel that paying for neural remaps is a good parallel to most of the paid services Blizzard offers, I do understand where CCP is trying to offer better freedoms to its players, while also not opening themselves up to greater and greater levels of overhead that would be a detriment to the development of the game itself.
If neural remaps were free, what would be the point of having them? Might as well just let everyone max out each attribute and be done with it, but then what would be the point of attributes? Might as well just flat line them. And then all you would have is this relatively benign and now slightly inconsequential implant system for slots 1-5 that would be more like an afterthought than a meaningful mechanic, so why not just do away with attribute implants as well.
A good deal of people always see a paid service and think it is about profit, first and foremost, the world is not nearly as black and white as this, sometimes paid services are there simply to limit the volume of what could technically be a free service, but the company would not have the manpower or the game would be effected negatively if it were indeed free.
Again, I am not sold on whether paying for more than one remap in a twelve month time period is a good or bad thing from the cost standpoint, but I am certain that they could not offer free unlimited remaps either, because it would render the entire system obsolete and burdensome at best.
People like to feel smarter, more clever, or that they have advantages over or are one step ahead of those around them, through their actions. The attribute system and the neural remaps allow clever players to maximize their training time and feel relatively accomplished in knowing, "I did that."
Without neural remaps or the attribute system itself, we lose one more thing that we actually have control over and can accomplish through our own means and clever planning. That people would decry CCP for offering additional remaps in exchange for PLEX that have been converted into AURUM merely says to me, that they do not actually think through what any of this means, they just see CCP charging them for something, and jump straight to the worst possible conclusion they can. ...clearly the Ishukone Watch Scorpion is the fifth horseman of the Apocalypse, i.e. the Brown Rider, otherwise known as Poopie. |

Are we getting the Neural Remaps in the NEX store in the Winter patch? This is what I hate with modern press really. The title is clearly a statement, to make us believe that "this text contains proof of X". Then in the actual text it's written as a question, because the person writing it has no clue. Or rather, the person know that it's really shady grounds so she make it a question to cover her ground. In my opinion this is almost as bad as the "some people say X".
Some people say the original poster should get permabanned from the forum for extensive trolling.
