I watched this documentary where a little spaceship called an "X-Wing" destroyed a huge space station called a "Death Star" and with no neuts fitted. It might be dangerous, but next time fly up close under the Rorqual's bulbous belly and aim your weapons at any exhaust-looking ports.

Oh dear.
Dude, seriously, the Rorqual, from what I understand is the Capital Mining Fortress. In that the whole point of that ship, is to sit in belts with hulks, supporting, repping, tanking and basically being a command capital ship for mining ops.
THAT DOES NOT MEAN it isn't designed to deal with ships attacking it. The ship is low sec and 0.0 only, meaning it is not in the slightest bit a carebear ship. You just mistook it for an orca. It costs 2 billion.
You op. are a ****ing prick.

Wait, what do you mean 'you couldn't solo a rorqual' in your Vagabond???? I do that all the time? Seriously it's a walk in the park. Your skills must be severely lacking.
Can't solo a Rorq in his Vaga... lol noob.

I love Rorqs, alt has a Battlerorq with a load of heavy neuts in the highs, a point, couple of navy invuls, capital rep, EM rig and rigs to speed up those all important reps, and 3 heavy cap injectors. I usualy sit it off a station looking all helpless until someone engages.
Neut it all you like, it can inject 2400 cap just before a shield boost is needed, (needs 2300 cap) and carries well over 1200 cap charges in the hold alone, not including the corp hold
With sentries it is pretty amusing, assign fighters to it for some WTF? moments from BSs that think you are an easy kill :)

Pretty good troll. I'll give it a 9/10. I'll even bite. The vagabond is a **** ship only suited to killing nooblets on null sec gates with the assistance of a bubble. And you expect it to kill a capital ship? A rorq is a pretty soft target as far as capitals go, 2-3 well skilled BS's will f*ck one up with little difficulty. I have no problem with mining and industrial ships having good defenses. In fact, I think the hulk should have a massively boosted tank. It shouldn't be easy suicide gank material and should be able to permatank the nastiest of null sec belt rats with an omni tank and straight t2 fitting. So umm, yeah, hulks should have a similar tank to that of a ferox perhaps. But that's OT. -----------------------------------------------------

I love this kind of whine ^^
"I cant kill a Titan with my frigate, something is wrong i am supposed to kill anything i am just that good nerf everything"
The Hulkageddon event could be used as a example of all those who dont tank their mining ships, which is pretty stupid. So what are you going to complain about next, tanked industrials? tanked mission ships? Tanked PvP ships? ____________________

Nope, not mad at all. But I have zero respect for vagabond pilots. It's only good at running from a fight, they really suck when stuff actually shoots back at them. No, I cannot fly a vagabond but I've shot at enough of them and seen enough of them bolt at the sight of a BC/recon/hac/BS... to know what they can and can't do. They do drop nice loot when you actually catch one though. Those YT MWD's are worth a pretty penny. -----------------------------------------------------

Just curious but since when have people become so actively whinny? Carebears get ganked and whine. Missionrunners get stolen from and whine. Now gankers actually whine?

I've heard this weird rumour that it helps to know what you're attacking when you're trying to decide whether to attack it or not.
OP didn't deserve to survive the kind of lolfail discussed here, but did anyway. From this we can conclude that the Rorq needs a buff. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

You know, the more that I think about this, the more I agree with the sentiment above. The OP did an incredibly stupid thing; he singly engaged a gang that had billions of isk in ships and millions upon millions of specialized SP. Despite this, his only punishment for this ridiculous thing is to get laughed at on eveo. No mention of losing/leaving drones even. I seriously don't think that's enough.
So, I guess we can try to brainstorm what boost the Rorq would need to kill a single, stupid HAC pilot? A 100%/level range boost to warp scrams? A larger drone bonus? Missile hardpoints? Neut range/amount bonus?

Thats why it gets a drone damage bonus, right? And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...

I know of the type of Vaga Pilot you speak of...will not engage unless he is certian of a easy kill and would run at the drop of a dime if it got hard I am with you on that one.
However there are some very Balsy Vaga pilots that I have seen harrass gate camping blobs picking off all thier fast tackle, risking a 200mill isk ship if one mistake is made, the Vaga is very unforgiving...thoes are the Vaga pilots I respect. Anyone "can" run in anything the ones that stay and fight deserve respect.

Hmmmm I think the OP has taken enough of a beating.
It would make more sense if things actually headed in the opposite direction - with mining ships getting significantly better defence. Hulkageddon could actually be very good for miners in the long run.
And no, I don't mine. |

Congrats OP, count yourself fortunate to have come across a properly fitted Rorqual, these are rare beasts rarely seen outside of EFT. Many of us would love the opportunity to see one in combat.

I have no problem with it being able to tank, but combat shouldn't be a mining ships thing.
That said, I'm pretty sure you can fit a rorqual with sentries and pop vagas if you want. Only problem is point.

Relative to other ships in it's class, the Rorqual is underpowered in combat.

Good to see the Rorqual pilot laying the smack down - most people sit with it at a POS and don't usually take it into field. The Rorqual is the St Bernard of the Eve Universe .

This. The Rorq is to other capitals much like the Hulk is to other Cruisers.
That doesn't keep it from being A BLOODY CAPITAL SHIP, and the OP was a moron for engaging to begin with. The fact that a HAC can apparently go after it solo and get away with ease is just silly – I truely hope the Rorq was poorly fitted. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
