Originally by: Terianna Eri FACT 1: There are two offensive modules you can use while you're jammed. Smartbombs, and ECM bursts. Neither of them are generally useful and especially not in hisec.
What about FoF missiles? Would defenders work as well? You can spend that time informing the FC WHO is jamming you so they can target accordingly. You still have control of your ship, so you can try to move out of ECM range or damage range. Unless you are webbed, you can jump out and jump back in again. There are things you can do, they just don't include shooting...

Edited by: Smabs on 05/02/2010 10:58:42 FoFs work but there are only a few HML ships (drake, cerb, caracal and nighthawk). Defenders are pretty much pointless.
As for moving around it depends. If you're tackled close range and jammed then you've got no way of shaking that tackler off you, seeing that you can't web, scram or shoot anything. So you basically just wait for a missed jam cycle or for your gang to clear the ecm off the field. If you're not tackled and are in a faster ship then you can try and get away from the ecm boat or otherwise can warp out. In either case you're useless to the fleet for that period of time.
And there are only a few classes of ecm ships so it's not exactly hard to tell who it is. Any decent FC will be trying hard to get them out of the fight as soon as possible.

I wish that ECM had never been invented - lost count of the number of times while soloing that a single BB alt warped in at range ended the fight. I'm 100% sure that ECM drones have been stealth nerfed a while back though and that's a good thing.

As a Blackbird pilot who generally sits at about 70km, beyond most drone and weapon range, I'm always worried I'll run into something like this...
[Maulus, Damps] Damage Control II Type-D Attenuation Signal Augmentation
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters Indirect Scanning Dampening Unit I, Targeting Range Dampening Indirect Scanning Dampening Unit I, Targeting Range Dampening
Light Electron Blaster I, Antimatter Charge S Light Electron Blaster I, Antimatter Charge S Small Nosferatu I
Small Particle Dispersion Projector I Small Particle Dispersion Projector I Small Particle Dispersion Projector I
Warrior I x2
As a frigate it locks the Blackbird first and has a reasonable chance of shutting it out with damps. Meanwhile you get into orbit around the primary and apply NOS + blasters. Put your drones on the Blackbird if you have enough control range, or on the primary if you don't.
...but I never see anything like that, because damps are out of fashion.

Or maybe because it gets insta-popped once you tell your FC that it's dampening you? It'll work if it damps you 50k away from battle, but it will get destroyed in a hurry if is in the fray.

I'm pretty sure both the jam-whiners and normal people would all be a lot happier if all jam-whiners were instantly permabanned from eve.

Oddly enough, same thing happens to a falcon/rook/BB/scorp in a gang. Ewar is always primaried.

hi
dunno about RvB much, but if you want a good tool against ecm with frigs try out sensor dampners. dont necessary use range script but the other one. frig has a small radius and a dampner slows down the lock time a lot. a few of those kind of frigs and they are very annoying even for other ships on the field. helps to close up on those snipers too. something to think about.

As an ECM pilot, the most annoying things are: * Sensor damps, as they prevent me from targeting anything. * Interceptors, as they reach me too quick. * Interceptors with damps. See above. * All long-range weapons, including F.O.F., as they eliminate my range-tank. * Other ECM ships, especially faster locking ones.

You call the enemy ECM ships as primary target
