Looking at the devblog here you can donate your PLEX'es to help the Haitians.
While some has wondered - is there someone to secure these contacts? While I can assist in such a manner to contact your PLEX'es to CCP - really there isn't a point in me doing it - since you can do it yourself (I doubt a CCP character will scam with all their DB master commands).
What I can provide though is a "ranking" (and maybe a small prize to the winner) of who donated the most PLEX'es.
So help the Haitians and contract a PLEX or two today to the character "CCP PLEX for Haiti" or me to participate in the "contest"!
All PLEX'es that are contracted to me will be donated to CCP for their efforts to help the Haiti disaster.

What about those who can't afford to donate a whole PLEX, but would like to donate something? Pooling a lot of smaller donations together could propably buy at least a few more PLEXs to the cause.

That is a very good idea.
Maybe Chribba can collect smaller ISK donations as well and combine them into PLEXes...

Not being funny, but why not just pick a charity of your choice in that case and make whatever donation you feel able to online? :)

You could say the same about donating PLEX's. The point is most people can spare more ISK than real money.

Add the way of donating ISK to purchase plex as well, just make sure you put "PLEX" in the reason field.

Great idea, Chribba.
I'll link this thread along with the dev blog in our corp forum and translate it. A whole lot of people don't go to the official forum or just don't speak english.
So anyone frequenting other eveboards or who is in a corp/alliance: post and/or translate the blog and this thread. The more attention this gets, the better.

I've already made my donation directly... Would be nice if eve had some way to export digitally signed transaction logs so I could just send the signed entry to Chribba and get ranked. (digital signatures on all sorts of transactions would be nice in general - killmails, market transactions, contracts, money transfers etc et)

How much of each plex donated is going to the relief efforts? A plex is in the neighborhood of $15 USD. Does CCP take a cut of that prior to donation?
A little more in the way of details would be appreciated.

So are we going to receive detailed financial documents showing how much CCP ends up raising and to whom exactly it is all going? ___

Proceeds? Proceeds = Money received through a sale or loan. The term sometimes refers to net proceeds (after any commissions, fees or other charges are deducted), and sometimes refers to gross proceeds (before such deductions).
Again, need more details. Net proceeds? Gross proceeds? Seriously... reading isn't that hard to now is it?

Quote: cash donation for the Red Cross efforts in Haiti
I would be very suprised if CCP doesn't tell us how many PLEX's they collect and how much they end up donating.

Yes. CCP will keep all that ISK for themselves and not donate the RL money to the Red Cross (you're not a shareholder, btw. Don't donate if you are that concerned of CCP scamming you).

CCP would much rather keep its philanthropy a complete secret, so don't expect them to say anthing more about how much they donate.
Come on, what do you think they are going to do. Just use a little common sense.

I am not concerned about CCP scamming me. What I am concerned is what is the passthru on the donations? 100&? 99%? 50%? Unforunately in todays day and age there are people who use tragic events like these to their own devious advantages. NO, I am NOT saying CCP would do this, but clarifaction is nice.
Very few charities have 100% passthru rates for donations. Presumably CCP is going to pass 100% of the value of the plex to a charity, but confirmation and more details are always appreciated.
They are still sorting out who stole what donations made to 9/11 victims.

dude, stop being a dumbass.
the money is ALLREADY CCP'S MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
plex is PAID FOR.
What ccp is basicly doing is letting us donate IN GAME MONEY, and they will match it with REAL CASH.
How the FUkL are you going to write up In game ISK on a tax write up?????????????

but but but... ITS IN GAME MONEY!
they allready have the cash, we gave it to them months ago. they are basicly saying, hey! you guys with lots of isk, if you give up game time we'll give your time to redcross in money form.
It's not like your going to buy plex for cash and then donate it. that would be stupid. If you have the cash, jsut donate it. this is for people that want to donate with ISK. a currency that CAN NOT be transferred into cash.
however CCP can what they please with the money they have. and thus are letting us players let go of in game money so they can make us feel like were donating the cash to redcross, when in all reality, CCP is donating to redcross on thier own without our help.
It's just a way for them to repersent us with the money we've helped them make over the past 5 years.

Yep. It's pretty pathetic. Yet some would still argue the infallibility of such organizations just as they would the Catholic Church. Oh what a great world we live in. ___

Guys and Girls,
As per Hilmar's Blog we will be donating 100% of the money received to the Red Cross.
I will ask someone higher up to confirm your queries come Monday, but CCP are not going to profit from this. The CCP community will profit from their generous donations and the fact that they are helping people in desperate need.

I find it interesting that our wealthy western governments, and us by extension could be helping these countries every single day.
Yet we slap them with embargos, bans, tariffs, sanctions etc that are directly tied to "aid".
We then wait for a tragedy to occur before we pretend to help. We send in our troops with their guns much faster than we send any actual help.
Pathetic.
And yes...my family has already donated what we could in the form of a 20 dollar cheque as well as clothing, blankets, and colouring books and crayons to a local church that is sending an aid package.

The troops with guns arrive quickly to prevent the dredges of human society from taking advantage of the lawless nature of the area. Haiti has always been a dangerous place, even more so now considering any semblence of law and order are under tons of rubble.
Yes, I can see it now. Thousands of white/blue collar people flooding to Haiti to help, only to be ****d/kidnapped/robbed/murdered before dispensing any help whatsoever.
Troops be damned.

Oh, please. If we give money to those lazy Haitians every time they have a natural disaster, it just encourages them to have natural disasters.
/glibertarian
Besides, this is just another cheap trick to raise the ISK value of PLEXes, like CCP's 'buy a ticket to Fanfest' gimmick.
/tinfoil hat
Seriously, I endorse this product and/or service. Are there any fundraising schemes in the making (ie, charity auctions, etc) to make money for the cause?

Thx for raising the visibility of this effort Chribba as i was in the dark, its not exactly where it should be on web site or in the main news screen at every gate and default igb opening, so i just donated a plex to "CCP PLEX for Haiti" as u have enough of your time eaten by us wastrals.

edit: the man above worried about getting a tax credit on a plex donation should quite frankly get a fkŠn ounce of compassion, suprised the tight wad didnŠt moan about the Contract fee too! ...... continues overleaf. |
