Edited by: Wikis on 30/01/2010 22:45:18 Those announcements following 1by1 * * * EVE Online installer error on PC Gamer DVD
The latest issue of PC Gamer is landing in the mailboxes of their subscribers and includes a special disc that features the EVE Online game client. It's come to our attention that there is an issue with the disc that prevents a successful installation. * * * PC Gamer MMO of the Year
The MMO you are playing is good. Still good. Very good.
The best.
"And more than ever, the players of EVE Online earned this award with their usual shenanigans..." reads the concluding paragraph of PC Gamer's upcoming Game of the Year Awards section on EVE Online. * * *
Award would given great publicity and advertisement boost, and then together with disc distribution could ve given nice boost to player base, and someone managed to screw up the disc. Well just hard it is to test installation process ...

Hmmm, I would think that a quite large quantity of blame goes out to PC Gamer. PC Gamer is the one who actually sends out the stuff and should therefore check the contents of what they are mailing.
Theoretically, CCP could have given PC Gamer a working copy and PC Gamer screwed up. Either way, they are both fail. Anyways, magazines are fail and are only for people over 50 so who cares.

Why are you blaming CCP for something that is the fault of PC Gamer's QA department.
Its their magazine, their disc. They should have had someone test discs for write errors. They didn't.
Man people whine about the absolute dumbest stuff. ♥

If CCP did not provide the source for the disk and/or the actual disks themselves, I'll eat a Naglfar.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

I would only be mad if CCP doesn't get a refund from PC gamer, or not able to include it next month, maybe on an additional disc(@pc Gamers expense) if necessary.

In CCP Manifest's words:
"I won't go into the full thing, but the logs show something: that there was no issue with the client we provided them. CCP QA/Software did it's job well. Holla.
We'll get the issue resolved though...not to worry!"

So at least this is one thing that CCP didn't actually screw up. And someday I'll figure out how to use proper quote tags and link.
