I'm not a football fan, but my wife is, so by default I had to watch the game with her and the in-laws. Which beings me to my point:
My best friend (and I use that term loosely) is/was/whatever a Colts fan. I am so going to rub this in his face.
Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

WHO DAT SAINTS???
In seriousness though, the Saints had the best team of franchise history, the first superbowl appearance in franchise history, and they just wanted it SOOOOOO BADLY. They were willing to make any call and take any chance to pull out a win, and the Colts were not even half as determined.

I hoped to see the blue's prevail, and that onside kick just made me go "hey that's not how you kick!".
But that said congrats to the Saints and it was a nice game (except for CBS screwing up the feed during the half-time show).
The main question now is what to do until September?

I like American Football, but yesterday I was too tired to watch it here in Europe. Taped the game and hoped the Colts would win but accidentally saw the result when I visited CNN.com _____________________

The bold part made me laugh. For a split second thought it was a flubbed kick but then I saw the left side of the Saints was ready for it.

It was a good game so it may be worth watching even though you know the results.

It's all good, the Colts started out good, but this just gives me more ammo to rag on my friend. Not that I need any, he is such an easy target. Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

IĈm glad the Saints won, they deserved with those brass ball calls they made. The onside kick was awesome, no one saw that coming.
Go Saints.

I tried, I realy tried to watch this game. There I was, in hospital, my wonderful 8" tv screen shining brightly, attempting to a) make sense of why the **** does an hour long game take 3-4 hours to play. b) why is it called 'football' c) a half time show that was poor, even for an 'end of pier' attraction. d) why bother? In the end, the 'why bother' won (at the end of the 3rd quarter) and I turned it off to watch some paint drying, at least I wouldnt get adverts/'messages from your local station/worthless 'expert opinion' every other minute. If American Football is the culmination of all that is great and good in American sport then America seriously needs a swift kick up the ass and a new direction to head in.
Sorry USA, but it did absolutely nothing for me. In fact, I found it more boring than Nascar and that is really saying something.

This pretty much sums up why I'm not a football fan. I have no problem with the game. I actually enjoy it at times, but it's everything that surrounds the NFL that I strongly dislike. All the hype, overpaid players, and blah blah blah. I'm still confused about why it takes so long to play. I think the only time the clock should be stopped is on a time out or out of bounds. That's it.
Give me two teams that are playing for the love of the game, and I'll watch it. Until then, I'm staying with rugby for professional sports and watching my daughter in basketball.
I'll agree with Nascar being boring as hell. You have about 40ish drivers going around in a circle. Sure they are running flat out most of the time and fighting for position, but really, it's not all that interesting. IMHO, racing on a circuit track takes more skill.
In case no one picked up on it, I'm an American and I distaste the NFL with a passion.

What can be more synonymous with in-closet homosexuality than a audience watching grown men in tight clothes chasing a ball?

The reason the clock is stopped so the most important part of football can take place.
Calling offensive/defensive plays.
Otherwise its just backnforthnbacknforth CRAP like basketball, soccer, rugby, hockey, etc.
There are only two great sports in this world, football and baseball. And the time spent in between the plays for deciding what to do is exactly why they're great.
annoing, i hope you don't claim to be a soccer fan.. can't hold a candle to (real/american/gridiron/etc) football.
as for the actual superbowl, colts had this game won until freany(?) got injured. That man was a one man wrecking ball on brees' dreams. ♥

I see your marshmallows and raise you hotdogs and beer....
Don't forget that they slap each other on the butt and I do believe I've seen a few rubbing another player's shoulders. If that is not suggestive, then I don't know what is.
