Could someone shed some light on the background voices I keep eharing in EVE, as if ghosts try to speak to me? I been looking aorund for some lore explantion, maybe has something to do with the capsule and the liquid? You linked somehow to other people? Do you have crew on your ship? maybe it's them.
Would be coold to get an asnwer as it's driving me nuts:))

No idea, but I heard it in belts when mining. They just sound really freaky, not like how I imagine traffic coms work, on principle of airplanes or military. More like how the SIMS used to speak all garbled up and echoing. Weird... I would imagine is what The Borg hear in their heads...

At gates it's other pilots. At belts it's npc's talking. Everywhere else, it's in your head.

The really weird comm traffic can be pirates at the belt. Sounds almost alien.

The gutteral rasps of NPC pirates mean that its time to recall your mining drones and launch your Hobgoblins. A nice prompt for you miners with your glazed-over eyes staring at the laser light show. Another clue is the red crosses on your overview.
At gates it's either traffic control, customs agents, or NPC faction cops who got stuck with mind-numbing stargate baby sitting. Ever notice how they get stuck near the gate and just waggle back and forth like fish in an aquarium?
The chanting monks in Amarr stations are tasked with keeping commerce moving, as no one spends a lot of time docked with that incessant moaning in the background.

Remember that no one in New Eden is actually speaking English or whatever language they're speaking on your version of the game. So it'll sound like gibberish to you.
I like the chatter in deadspaces (at least in Serpentis ones--dunno if it's different elsewhere). It sounds creepy. And the drone deadspace noises are cool too.
There is lots of chatter by gates and stations also. I never hear any in empty belts, though.

"Lemme Know....ah"
Clear as day coming from the gates probably ever 20 seconds.
I really wish they'd loop that stuff a bit longer. It's less noticable if you have music playing of course but when they changed the jukebox stuff I noticed it a lot more flying around since I rarely had any background music going.

The voices kind of remind me of psychotic Charlie Brown adult voices...

This cracks me up every time I hear it. Then again I'm generally stoned. Its like the same guy throughout the universe just wanting to know, eh?

About this.
I just want to add that sometimes you can actually hear the rat's comm voices even if there are no rats present at the belt (I get them often enough.) I've gotten the voices just by having someone warping to the belt or after rats are gone the comm simply doesn't stop like it should and remains even after I change session, so only a relog fixes it.
This happens much more frecuently on sat/sun so I assume it's at least in some way due to a lag induced glitch.
PS > Either that or there's a damn cloaked rat ship following me all the way inside the station (or maybe the rat is already inside my ship and transmitting my position to rats all over the region!!! /paranoid) |
