Forgive me if I am placing this topic in the wrong section of the forums.
To whom it may concern,
I would like to start off by saying that I have enjoyed EvE since beta and have always wanted to work for a great company such as CCP. A few years ago when I started my bachelors degree in Fine Arts (major in Game Production) I posted on the EvE forums about my interest in the company and would you believe that I actually got a response from CCP?!
So here I stand, 10 weeks until I graduate and begin my life as a game designer. I am currently looking for a CCP employee that has some extra time in the next 10 weeks to mentor me. I will of course give more details on the mentor program if any CCP employee wants to work with me.
My website recently went up and is ready for vistors. www.andrewferency.com
Thank you for your time, Andrew Ferency ---------

this is a professional way to look for this sort of thing.
Emailing CCP directly via their website would have been a complete waste of time compared to this forum post.

Sorry, I went to CCPs home page and I really didnt want to email HR. I know a lot of Devs are on these forums and I did state before that I talked to a Dev the last time I inquired about the company.
Please no more non-CCP personal need to post, thanks. ---------

You really cannot require non CCP staff to stay off this topic. Send an email in the professional way, this may improve your chances of success.

1St off, congrats on almost finishing your game design study. 2Nd; This is really really REALLY not the place to ask such things. CCP has a website to which you've apparently already been. If you would have looked you would have found the internship page where all information is ready for you to observe and utilize. Through that page you can contact and explain your current situation. Just in case you're lazy: internships
Just because you got a CCP response on the forums a few years ago doesn't mean it is the perfect place to write such a short (and shortcoming imo) message towards any dev that might be looking. Being professional is key in the case of trying to secure a "mentorship" at a proclaimed and international thriving company as CCP. As for your website, all nice and dandy but for someone who is doing a minor and major in the direction of fine arts and game production, it is very minimalistic in regards to a showcase. Needs a bit more work studie examples and such imho. Just a friendly tip ready to be noted and binned, in which case it will probably mean you're most likely not suited for any mentor of any bigger game company.
Good luck on the graduation! ___________

Posting on open forums for the Eve community asking the Eve community not to post is just stupid. For 1 on 1 communications you use e-mail, for open discussions and such you make a thread. Certainly unprofessional to be making a thread like this. However I wish you luck.

Now these are the types of responses I like, truly. Your comments are spot on and I enjoy your critiques. Last Friday I had a interview with my school and the things you have stated are exactly what they said (about my website). I have been so busy and re-doing or 'spicing up' my website just didn't happen these last few days but I intend to fix/change it very soon*.
As for the comments on the internship, I wasn't looking for an internship but after reading that link you posted maybe I should look into doing that as well. The reason for the mentor is the class that I am taking is called 'Capstone, in which all the students are required to have a mentor and to be in contact with them for 10 weeks of the class. Projects are assigned and so forth.
"CCP is currently not hiring any interns, but we accept open applications for future vacancies." Also, 'Contact Us' is very limiting on emails.. anyone have a good email? Best one I see is [email protected]
I will take you up on your suggestion though and email CCP directly.. but also as you said its shortcoming and classes start on Tuesday. Things just need to be rolling and not standing still :)
Thank you again Freyya, very much. ---------

I really hope you are better at designing games then you are at finding the right spot to post this in... I would prob start looking for a ccp website (not the EVE one, a real company one), or maybe grap the phone and call them. Because im kind I even spend 6 seconds finding this link on the frontpage http://www.ccpgames.com/

Apply for a bug hunters job, its essentially the same as mail room clerk in a big corp. Not to say there isn't a career in there, its just it is a lot easier to get noticed once you are behind the fence. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Maybe there is some hope yet!
Also, thank you everyone that had positive or constructive feedback for me. Much appreciated. Two companies got a email from me, unfortunately CCP was not one of them. Maybe I will email them some other time. ---------

Unfortunately for who? You obviously aren't bothered and well, I doubt CCP would want someone who can't be bothered, so I don't know who it's supposed to be unfortunate for. Maybe its unfortunate for the companies that you have been in touch with.

Its unfortunate for me... you couldn't tell that from all my previous comments? CCP would be my dream company to work for, but real life issues plays a big roll in things. I will be looking to move to the Chicago area from Michigan so the CCP office in GA isn't as promising as the Chicago companies I'm looking in to. I remember when moving to Iceland was something I wanted to do.. just for CCP
Any CCP employee knows how to get a hold of me.. trust me ---------

Umm...Ok....
so there is really no chance given your current situation that you would be able to work for CCP. That being said, where is the motivation for anyone from the company to mentor you, when the knowledge you would gleen would more likely be put to use for a competitor. Don't think like a computer guy now...think like a business person. It would be all warm and fuzzy if they would do it with altruistic intentions...but the real world is saying "what do I get out of it". A dream will always be just that unless you are willing to break out of your current situation. (to be honest, your current situation is not that big of a situation....your making it harder then it is...or your scared).
