first: no PNY cards. eff that company in the a with a d covered in flaming h.
Seriously: What manufacturer/card are you using? Something that runs Eve at flawlessomfg high settings, and doesn't need aftermarket fans/thermal paste to keep from having heating issues.
Thankies. ♥

Gainward Ati 4850. I am actually using an aftermarket cooler, but I wouldn't need one if it was just for Eve. ____________________

The 9800 is the card that was retooled from the 8800 in that they made it more efficient and less power hungry. Not to say it didn't get a nice boost in performance which it most certainly did. As far as the 2xx line don't bother with anything under a 260 as they are all budget crap based off the retooled 9800 and perform worse than a top of the line 9800. Only the 260 and above are really new tech.

I use an 8800GT, though I do have aftermarket cooling. I believe it's a thermalright cooler or something, generally passive but I decided to stick a spare fan on it anyway.
I may as well have had a jet in my room for all the noise the standard cooler made lol.
It seems to do the trick, for now at least. It is getting old though.

Aww, I thought just anybodies cards.
Ah well, I has a NVidia GeForce 8600M GTon a laptop, it runs fine on high settings but lags like hell after gate jumps which I'm fairly certain is a problem with some other form of hardware but couldnrt possibly be related to memory with 4 gigs.....well, I do run Vista, so maybe.

Q9650 here. Was a bit overpriced compared to the i7 but its around the same performance and I didn't have to get a new motherboard or ram so it worked out well overall. Eats forged alliance 8 player online games for a snack.

Ditto. The "I'll add SLI later" doesn't work well, since by the time you want to upgrade to SLI, there's already a single card that will match/beat your 2xOld Cards for less. Or the graphics bus has changed. Or there's new video RAM. Or only new cards support DirectX 99. Personally, I'm hoping new cards will come with Booth Babes. With big polygons. But I digress.

Hmm, and here I have a PNY GTS 250 1GB...
Well, had, I sent it back because I was getting artifacts all over the place. Didn't have much issue with tech support, RMAed it right away.
But anyways, I looked into it, the GTS 250 isn't a rebadged 8800 GT, but a rebadged 9800 GTX, which is still a quality video card.
Of course I'm still waiting for NVIDIA to release a DX11 compliant chipset. I know ATI has them, but I've had better luck with NVIDIA. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

NVIDIA GeForce 9500m GS - 512mb in my laptop
Yeah it's not an uber PC card but as I had already entered this thread I thought I'd post anyway. It's actually been a pretty nice card for gaming apart from issues with Fallout 3, Eve has some weird issues at times and watching some videos online can sometimes be jumpy. But yeah apart from that its just great.
Wish I had a PC

I run a sapphire 5850, runs perfect, can OC to 5870 levels with other programs without adding anything, and the included OC software, ati CCC can be maxed without worrying. At max with all 3D setting (nix AA) forced onto EVE my rig runs fine. _________________________________________________________________

As of right now I have a Galaxy 9600 GT with 512 MB. It has an issue or two, but since I undated to the latest nvidia drivers, haven't had any for a while. It runs two clients at high settings with no problems, though the FPS is a little low.
Just ordered an EVGA overclocked GTX 280 with 1 GB and it should be here Wednesday. Was planning on getting an EVGA GTX 275 with 1798 MB, but Newegg decided not to carry it anymore. So I got this one for less, oh well, I'll survive.

Sapphire Ati Radeon 5850, 1 GB (basic fan)
Really quiet at auto-fan-speed, even with high load.
Not all catalyst control settings work with eve currently. Perhaps because of the game using its own shaders. It's been a while since I tested it all with Dominion coming out. But I doubt that one really "need" the various antialising values maxed out. So getting high antialising in eve is not a problem despite this. I believe it is simply the AA filter type edge-detect that messes things up, I tested this alot when dominion was released. So iirc disabling this particular filter allows having the rest of the settings to be maxed out.
I should mention that I use the Catalyst 9.11 drivers, which are a few of months old now. I will think about installing the upcoming 10.2 or 10.3 drivers when they are released.
