Evga GTX 280. Sometimes FPS drops below 60 in EVE because of 2x2 supersample. Stupid clouds.

Sapphire Ati Radeon 5850, 1 GB (basic fan)
Really quiet at auto-fan-speed, even with high load.
Not all catalyst control settings work with eve currently. Perhaps because of the game using its own shaders. It's been a while since I tested it all with Dominion coming out. But I doubt that one really "need" the various antialising values maxed out. So getting high antialising in eve is not a problem despite this. I believe it is simply the AA filter type edge-detect that messes things up, I tested this alot when dominion was released. So iirc disabling this particular filter allows having the rest of the settings to be maxed out.
I should mention that I use the Catalyst 9.11 drivers, which are a few of months old now. I will think about installing the upcoming 10.2 or 10.3 drivers when they are released.
Yeah, AA produces random white blobs where ever there is any type of bloom, or shadows. Without AA you can enable all the other settings, and it makes eve look a bit cleaner. _________________________________________________________________

I have an Asus 8800 GTX coupled with an overclocked Intel C2D 6420. Its runs quite nicely @ 1600x1200.
And about the AA, as soon as you enable multisampling things get screwy, super sampling works like a champ but its damn costly for the FPS.

What kind of power supply you using for that setup? -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Since two 8800-GTS 384's overheated on me (I only used one at a time not both, and eve ran perfect), I've been using a Sapphire ATI 4670 and eve is fine at 1680x1050 with everything on (except AA) - though I don't do fleet fights. I have my eye on a 5850, but only for upcoming games like supcom 2 and mechwarrior. If I only ever played eve tbh this card would be fine.
Not sure how it handles two clients yet however. -omg-

Edited by: Iasius on 13/02/2010 23:29:34 Nvidia 8800 GTS 512MB. It had a overheating fault that i mostly sorted with a custom Zalman heatsink and fan. After i fitted that i found out i could fix the overheating by installing a newer BIOS - which it did. Run it OC'd at 700mhz GPU. It does not give amazing 3D mark vantage scores but i won't replace it until a game really requires it.
Here is a pic of it with an extra fan for good measure!

Did it overheat to the extent that you experienced artifacting? Because that's what happened to me, and even starting 'cool' didn't fix it... I think they are damaged. Unless you have found differently? -omg-

I had artifacts in lots of games including EVE when it was overheating. But I was lucky and suffered no further artifacts after i fitted the Zalman HSF and flashed the gfx card bios. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. ~Saint |

Can run 3 clients ok with settings maxed before the PC starts to moan. Cost me $960 NZD new, most expensive part of my build lol.
