Is there any way I can reduce the time it takes my Iteron Mark IV to warp once I have told it to do so?

Train Spaceship Command and Evasive Maneuvering. Fit Inertia Stabilizers and/or Nanofiber Internal Structures: both are subject to stacking penalties.

Edited by: Kurlieu on 12/02/2010 18:30:58 I'm assuming you could fit nanos in the lows, although you couldn't use cargo expanders then. You would also lose structure - but gain velocity. Also make sure your ship agility bonus is at 5 (spaceship command).
There is no way you'll ever get a Mk IV to warp as fast as an Incursus.
EDIT: Oops, got a phone call and was late.

Also keep in mind, "Align To" is your friend. In a bigger ship like that, it's not a bad idea to stay pointed at a station any time you're not moving around.
Obviously this doesn't help for getting away from a gate after jumping or anything like that, but it's almost required for any hauler sitting in a belt.

My major issue is that when I am jumping through a low sec area that when I come out of a gate, before I can warp to the next one I have to wait for the giant flying turd to turn and then wind up to warp. In the mean time somebody who is much better than me at this game fires 2 rockets up my tailpipe causing me to spill my load all over space.
Is this just the nature of the beast or what do other people do who want to travel through low sec while hauling cargo?
I would like to try and maximize my cargo space for obvious reasons, but at the same time I want to have just enough protection to get past the delay in warping from one gate to another.

Edited by: Matalino on 12/02/2010 21:15:37 For hauling through low sec, try using a blockade runner. They have faster base alignment and can fit covert ops cloaks. Properly piloted they are practically untouchable in low sec. However, this ship will require a fair bit more training. When hauling through low sec, if you are caught then you are dead. Your stategy should focus on not getting caught in the first place.

To use the the cloak/mwd trick you will need to be in a Transport ship anyways as regular indy's don't have the PG to fit a MWD. That was a trick used back before you could fit a covert ops cloak on a Blockade runner and is not very relevant anymore.

Use a Blockade Runner (the Transport that can use a Covert Ops cloak).
Only really bad lag, stupidity, or extremely bad luck will get you killed in one while going through lowsec. People can't target a cloaked ship!
My Crane is T2 cargo rigged, so when fitted for cargo holds 10,241 m3 and can carry 3x GSC so 12,941 m3 total. Not bad for an invisible ship, and it it's the second smallest Blockade Runner (largest base cargo though). Takes about 7 seconds to warp, which doesn't matter when you are invisible. Rigged for speed it takes 3 seconds to warp and carries about half as much.

You can also rig Low Friction Nozzle Jets to increase your agility.
In low sec you want a cloak (improved cloaking device ii) and probably warp core stabilizers (1 is meh, 2 is better, 3 blocks faction overloaded point, you can still be scrammed by an interceptor or camp of course.)
I'd at least experiment with the mwd/cloak trick but it's been a while since I did it in a regular industrial. Having the cloak really helps though, you can just slowboat away until the pirate leaves (often they don't hang around gates for a long time), gets distracted by a new victim coming through the gate, or you eventually get out of scram range then align, de-cloak, warp.
Really, if you can train iteron V then getting blockade runners and deep space transports is an additional hour of training and the former is awesome for low sec runs. The latter can do the mwd trick for sure but imho it's too vulnerable to take into low sec without a damned good reason (like dropping a pos module that wont fit in a blockade runner).
Also, rename your ship to something other than Mule Serpent's Really Obvious Target Iteron. Don't give people a reason to hunt you down. Don't make your trips predictable, vary their times and even routes if you can.
Get familiar with the sta map settings so you have a chance of spotting a camp by deaths in the last 30 minutes, ships in system, etc.
If you have an alt then scout ahead with it in a disposable ship. Even if you have just one account it's sometimes worth scouting ahead with it if you're suspicious.

Get a Viator as you might be Gallente from using an Itty. Fit it with nano¦s and low friction nozzle joint¦s.
Only "roadrunner" is faster in warp.
