Edited by: snutt on 26/11/2004 13:29:54 Anything but 7x Dual 150mm I, 4x Cap rechargers IIs, 2x T2 M Armor Rep, 3 harderners is pretty much impossible. PVP hunting setup is impossible (MWD and scrambling/webing). Ferox on the other hand can fit all highend cruiser weaponry, 5x Heavy Launchers, 2x 250mm rails. And then got plent of grid and CPU left to spare for PVP hunting or EW with d-mods on the low for the launchers, which outdamages the Brutix by far.
How does this even come close to balanced?
Imho one can't make a ship with 5/5 launchers and turrets as launchers need CPU and turrets need grid. If you got for the launchers you got plenty of grid to spare on the rest of the slots. If you go for guns you got plenty of CPU to spare on the rest of the slots.
As a comparison, imagine if the Raven had 6 turret slots. That would mean it should have about 16500 grid with level 5 engineering, and about 13200 without. That would mean it would have no problem fitting 6 Siege Launchers 2 Heavy nos and a Cap booster, anyone getting a deja vu? Yea that's right, right back where we were some balance patches ago!
This is exactly the same with the Ferox, only in a smaller scale. And it's not fair.
The Brutix 325 CPU is a major joke, and I ain't laughing. It needs ATLEAST 100 more, like the Cyclone. A grid increased would certainly not be wrong either.. Megathron got more grid than the tempest because it's suppose to armor tank, yet still the Brutix don't over the Cyclone? The situation is the same, only different names on the ships. I'am begining to think the mixed up the Brutix grid and CPU stats with the Cyclone..
And for those of you that plan on comment with something like "damn time Caldari got a boost/pwned". Don't post, everyone know's they have the most used ships. Crow for inty. BB for EW, Caracel for agentrunning and so on. Spare all of us it..
I demand a explaination!

Yeah Caldari rock except in standard frigate they are kind of weak well I like the Merlin and I guess Kestrel can dish out fair enough damage. The Ferox look nice and is especially versatile with 5 turret and 5 launcher hardpoints.
Have you actually tried the Brutix from what I've heard on the test server this ship was more than capable of kicking ass. Haven't tried it myself but will do in the near future. __________ Capacitor research |

Agree
It's got crap Powergrid, crap CPU and weak capacitor. Sure, ships should have weaknesses, but why make the Brutix weak in _all_ areas? Back to Thorax for me.

Brutix was a VERY good ship some weeks ago. Mainly because it had 2500 grid. Yo could easyly fit 7 heavy neutron blaster, mwd+web+scrambler+heavy cap booster, med TechII armor repairer and hardeners. and still have some grid left... That ship was a real killler, damage comparable to a blasterthron. But now... it sucks, you won't even fit 7 ions with mwd and repairer... So you pretty much have to go with electrons...

Yes it has slightly more PG than Ferox, only the Ferox has way more CPU, and the option of fitting CPU-heavy weaponry (launchers).
The Brutix also have slightly more cap then the minmatar one, only projectile weapons are not cap heavy...
So the low PG on Ferox are compensated for. The Brutix are compensated for by, what exactly? Worst CPU (worse then "ancient Amarr" design), next to worst cap, for a ship that following Gallente philosophy would use blasters and MWD .... and a defensive bonus that needs cap to be used.

Edited by: Iachrites Archveult on 26/11/2004 14:08:52 I'm inclined to think that the Brutix is a break with 'Gallente Tactical Philosophy'.
I note that it has a drone bay capable of carrying four heavys/10 mediums (1000) as opposed to the Ferox's 500 - making it a little better at fending off smaller ships.
I see that the Brutix has 500 more armour HP than the Ferox and has a 35% kinetic resist in its armour. It also has 5 low slots. (Yes, I have seen this is reversed in shields)
It also has an armour repairer bonus.
The conclusion, to me, is that the Brutix can go some way to nullifying the kinetic missile dmg bonuses that many caldari ships have through armour tanking and an inherent extra resist to kinetic armour dmg that no other BC has.
I'm not sure that the thing is supposed to go toe-to-toe with the Ferox. I think it may turn out to be a Cal cruiser killer and anti-missile boat vessel.
Of course, I'm not saying people should use it in such a way. Just making a stab at what the Gallente Navy Board were thinking when they commissioned the thing.

Edited by: KompleX on 26/11/2004 14:46:22 When the Brutix arrived, i was thinking like: Yea, you can actually put heavy neutrons on a ship smaller than a BS, maybe that was their intention after all? Then they just HAD to nerf the Brutix (and the other BC's) PG. Marvelous.

The thing is people want ships of the same class to be roughly matched, and if there BC, Cruiser, BC etc cant go toe to toe with a similar level ship they will *****.
The real problem is that the early Brutix was easily the best BC and would have even given some Tier 1 BS a run for their money. So it go tempest-whacked into practically the worst BC judging by the whinging (I would have to actually fly one of the new ones to confirm this).
But it does definantly look like it was made to go up against those Kinetic missile spamming Caldari. --------------------------------------------------

I got my Brutix friday night. I'm out for the weekend so wont be able to play with it but after quickly glancing at its CPU and Powergrid I immediatly know I'm going to have a LOT of trouble fitting it for combat. Typical Gallente combat strategy is to go for blasters but considering its power + CPU that is not a viable option. In truth I dont actualy see a point in this ship if it cant live up to its gallente expectations. Who was this ship designed by anyway, the gallente military or micky mouse industries? ----------------------- ╔╤╗╒╕╔╕║║/ ║│║╘╛║╘╝║\ ----------------------- |

Another point to consider is why ammar Prophecy have not only more powercore ( that's normal because lasers use more powercore), but also more CPU.
