I know we have almost no information on Tyrannis yet, but I have a concern about planetary interaction (as I understand it applies to all planets, including hi-sec). As we know we will be able to buy "districts" of planets or all of them and that seems to be the problem - what can stop billionaires in EvE from buying all planets making this addon almost useless for everybody else? Let me explain, the scenario I see if there are no limits to buying "districts":
1. Tyrannis is released and 0.0 planets are taken by alliances owning that space, which is understandable;
2. Low-sec planets are bought buy people with connections or low-sec corporations, since so called "carebears" won't buy "districts" there due to need of controlling some processes, which also includes travelling to low-sec;
3. Hi-sec planets are bought by armies of traders and hi-sec corporations, people with any income at all and billionaires, who will buy out solar systems or regions,
4. And here comes the first problem - soon enough all of the planetary space will be bought out (and please don't say that there is enough planets, since there is enough ISK in-game to buy them all) and people, who couldn't buy anything at Tyrannis launch or just young players, will be left with nothing, since everything will be already bought.
5. This could be fixed with two solutions that don't actually work: a)Make planets expensive - which makes them again unavailable for most of EvE players , again making addon useless; b)Limit amount of "districts" that you can buy with skills (same way buy/sell orders are handled) - this however goes against sandbox type of game EvE is, since you cannot be a planetary monarch.

I don't think you buy planets you buy parts, small parts of planets and (de) cultivate them.
So you won't run out of planets soon.

1) It stands to reason (both in realism terms, and in line with other eve mechanics) that planetary ownership would require a continous input of ISK and/or time and/or skills. That's going to limit any individual ownership potential.
2) With the scheduled release of Dust 514, it's not beyond belief that territories could be lost to military action (not just to upkeep negligence).
3) Correct me if I'm wrong, but not all of 0.0 is statically claimed by the same people; again, it stands to reason that the same would hold true for planetary holdings.
Oh, and;
4) Assuming a moderate (say > 10) number of regions for planets, there would be a lot of regions floating around...

Fairly sure the empires won't let you 'buy' highsec anyway. You can't mine highsec moons so why would you get highsec planets?
Lowsec would be risky, and maybe even only available for FW sov holders.
Just speculation though.

Your point about Hi-sec and empires is very good, but: If buy-able planets are only available at 0.0's then what is the point of addon - make 0.0 alliances richer than they already are?

What discussion, when you yourself open the post saying that everything will be pure speculation? Most peculiar.
My speculative assessment: High-sec planets will be akin to moons ditto. May have minerals but accessing them are prohibited by Concord disallowing anchoring machinery needed to do so. Hence no issues whatsoever.

Beside another major expansion meant only for 0.0?
Better wait and see.

What stops you from:
- being one of such billionaires
- growing a pair and go in low sec / 0.0
- wardec and kill those on the planets you want
- join an alliance and claim what your military force can afford to take?
If "having balls" is an answer to any of the above, then this expansion won't fix them.

it looks like you didnt even try to get information about this. as said on the fanfest this is not a "buy and put fuel into it" feature. you need to build stuff on the disctricts. you need to manage politics. its consumes alot of time. its not just a pos.

Hey look, the famed EVE crystal ball in operation.
protip, read your own first sentence. Nobody except CCP knows how it's going to work yet, so why don't you be quiet and stop speculating/whining until we have accurate details. Your whining has totally no basis and you, nor anybody else, has a clue.

CCP specifically said it won't be a clone of games like Civ, since those games already exist and they don't want to make them again. They said that they want to have the same 'feel' as those games in planetary interaction though.

Guys - you really misinterpret what I said. I asked for your thoughts on possible monopolies in-game and, if they occur, is it possible that this addon brings almost no use to the game due to lack of subscribers it would affect. Doesn't any of you have any thoughts at all, no theories?

Yes, obviously only people with neither job nor family are capable of operating in 0.0, or joining an alliance.

Sure it could, but then it could also be awesome and double the player base. Nobody knows though because we don't have any information to base speculation on, so why don't you just stay quiet until we have stuff to go on?
