After doing a number of sites in several C1 wormholes, I decided to put up a POS in a C2 and have a go at living in WH space. I was basically given this C2 by a corp who were vacating and the static HS makes it a nice deal.
Or so I thought. In the C1 sites (Radar/Mag) dropped loot and salvage worth millions. In an hour one night, a friend and I made about 100M in a C1.
Now that I'm soloing a C2, I don't seem to be getting much in the way of drops. In 30 or so Cruiser kills, I haven't managed a single nanoribbon. I just finished a radar site an I expect my salvage/drop/can loot will total maybe 5 million. I haven't killed a BS as I can't seem to tank them in my proph. I usually kill all but one cruiser and loot the cans.
Has there been a nerf to the sleeper salvage drops and can loot or is it possible the WH I ended up with just sucks? I know it's fairly played out since it doesn't spawn many new sites but I'm OK with that since I solo and have limited time. It's just the sites I do run don't seem to net much.
Sorry for the wall of text.
TL;DR Have WH drops been nerfed, or do I just suck at exploration? :)

We came to the conclusion that c2s dont drop ANYWHERE near as many nanos as a c1. This is based from running many hundreds of sites in both c1 and c2 and logging the value of loot from them. Even the sleeper BS in the C2 dont drop enough blue loot for the step up in damage u have to tank. Radars dont drop loot worth crap and mags do drop stuff but the prices have been falling as the market has more available to keep prices down. Your best bet wud be a pos in a WH that has a static c1 so u can jump in and get new sites nearly every day and even some pew if the locals feel like putting up resistance. Also clearing gravs/ladars of the initail small spawn of sleepers can net quite a few nanos if you clear the whole system.

valid.
we pulled a TON of ribbons yesterday. The day before only 10. It all averages out.
we do however have one pilot who is luckier than the rest. He may end up flying a salvage boat forever at this pace.

Thanks, all.
I knew they were random but not a single ribbon after killing so many more than my C1 experiences had me wondering if maybe the particular C2 I moved into was overplayed or something.
If nothing else, the ore is pretty good. I'll stick with this one for a bit longer before looking for another C1/2.

Not only is it random, but it wildly fluctuates....
In my C2 yesterday I cleared out 3 Perimeter Hangars, 2 Checkpoints, and an Enclave Cohort, and I got 1, coutem 1 nano.
This morning I ran a single hangar and got 11 ribbons, keep hunting you'll get more. And BTW, those grav sites aren't just there to look at! Get a barge and go mining, it'll even out your income.

It's random. I get this from corp mates 2 or 3 times a week- "I got no ribbons, they must have nerfed the drop rate" and "I got lots of ribbons, the drop rate has gone up again". I get more annoyed each time they say it. Yep, I saw a 0.001% sample of the total and conclude that the drop rate has gone up/down /facepalm.
C1's are probably more profitable for you than C2's, as you can do them at a reasonable pace. Find a WH with a C1 static and you'll have a constant supply of fast sites to do and the highs and lows will quickly even out.

Everyone is against you.
You should leave wormholes.
The nanorobbons dont drop at all they are a myth.

C1s are the best sites for salvage. Still you probably had a streak of bad luck, it happens. Radar cans are almost worthless, so the only worthwhile thing from those is the loot and salvage.
Mag sites are worth analyzing if they have a chance to drop malfunctioning relics, im not sure if they do in C2.
For both Radar and Mag there is a chance they include a can called "Derelict Talocan Cruiser" or something similar. This needs to be salvaged and includes a hull relic. Its worth a few million for the wrecked variety so worth the time to pick up.

Edited by: Chaibat on 26/02/2010 14:33:40 Thanks, everyone.
I've been able to make enough isk in mining that this C2 is worthwhile. I was just surprised by the loot. I'm not planning to quit anytime soon. I have to at least make back the POS cost :)
I'll keep hitting the sites I can manage. I guess with a string of no nanoribbons this long, I should hit the mother-lode soon.
I usually have an exit to a C-1 so I might start hitting neighboring systems for the quick and easy sites as well. I'm glad to know it's not just this WH or me that I haven't scored much on ribbons.

Ahh. I did get some decent coin from salvaging one of these in a C1. I wonder if that's what raised my expectations for a C2. My memory sucks and there was a gap of over a month before I moved into WSpace. Thanks for that info.

If CCP want to nerf nanoribbons they will probably increase the drop rate. Decreasing the drop rate will just push up the price.

IIRC, sleeper salvage is completely random (i.e. you get whatever you get from any ship class and the bigger rats just drop more).
Because of this a C1 is much better than a C2 for salvage as you get a crapton of frig sized sleepers which have the same chance of a nanoribbon salvage as cruisers+.
Can't say much about site drops. Haven't run too many of those. ______________________
