Edited by: Vikarion on 27/02/2010 09:03:54 Ok, CCP, we know that you hate Caldari, and that you want the Federation and the minnies to win FW.
So, both the Feds and Minnies are winning now, and since your written-in-stone narrative and desires are being placated, can we please have some meaningful consequences for FW now?
Such as:
Loyalty points for plexing. Denial of docking rights in enemy-held systems Recognition of achievements - such as, amount of VP per character. Real RP consequences for system occupation.
We in the Caldari militia have basically decided to let the Fed retake systems, since you seem to be reluctant to make changes while we are "winning". So, here's your chance: the Gals are retaking systems, so now you can do all the crap you didn't want to while we held them. Please do.

Who cares, if you want that stuff, go to nullsec, it's all there. Yes, I'd really like to be gone from the game for an evening and wake up the next day to find I couldn't access many of my ships, with little or no warning. Yeah, I want to be forced to engage in annoying pseudo-sov warfare. And RP consequences?
Again who cares. When the Caldari captured a bunch of Gallente systems, CCP wrote a nice little piece of fiction about it. Do you expect them to do that every time the balance swings? All of this stuff that you want, it exists already in 0.0. If you want to RP about systems changing hands, do it. But forget about CCP devoting man-hours to this. It would please a very, very tiny percentage of the playerbase and cost them a bunch of money.
Many of us are happy with FW just the way it is, it's very good fun that we can engage in without having to be overly serious or have CTAs or any of that BS, which, if changed to be like 0.0, would probably start happening in one way or another.
I probably just got trolled, but wtf ever.

Hmm how about please can CCP encourage some new PVP corps to join Caldari militia so they can get back to "winning" and we can get back to enjoying some decent pewpew scraps.

Quite frankly we don't want that stuff if it means we have to play lag games or kowtow to a power bloc led by a spotty preteen just to hold onto a system that said spotty preteen is taxing us on.

CCP arguably can't do this, partly because it's a bad idea to reward plex capping with AFK alts, but also because navy NPCs in plexes drop tags which are supposed to constitute the financial 'reward' for plexing, and as I understand it are equiivalent to rat bounties.
The trouble is that they're too much of a pain to bother collecting, especially in the minor plexes where most of the spawn is frigates. As the FW playerbase flies smaller ships with lower SP than average for Eve PvP, the smaller plexes are the only ones that could be solo'd for the NPC kills (EDIT instead of just to run down the timer).
What CCP should do is remove tag drops from plex spawns in FW and have a militia player get a bounty from their appropriate faction for killing enemy navy NPCs, like Concord gives a bounty on rats. That way it becomes a viable isk source to kill rats in FW plexes in enemy lowsec, and players can actually support themselves via FW activity that isn't running missions.

uh... What!?
The game mechanics themselves are equal on both sides, barring the NPC's: Of which you have the "uber-wtf-pwn jam me for 3 minutes straight on average" variety, and the gal's have wussy useless npc's that are so useless, I completely ignore when someone turns them on me.

We're only winning cause your after dt plexing alt army gave up, and there's actually plexes in other timezones! I haven't had a single fight in a plex in months, all I do is chase alts or people not interested in combat out of plexes.
If that alt army kicked in again, it would return to the last year where there aren't plexes to run in other timezones, which is COMPLETELY CCP's fault: (at least they owned up to it: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=895197&page=1#14 )

I'll support carrots for the winning side, but not sticks. When a militia is at a low point, I don't want disincentives pushing against people joining that side. I want people flooding to that side as quickly as possible to balance it out again!

CCP *MIGHT* dismantle the titan in Luminaire, ONLY because it's easy for them to do. But the empires will remain at war. If this war was winnable, fw would be over at the first fw cycle, and that would suck.
Otherwise, they'll leave a steaming pile of broken sov mechanics in place, wishing we'd all go to 0.0 and participate in blob warfare being some alliances pawn.

Still, if we ignore the "CCP WANT GALLENTE TO WIN" thing - and for Christ's sake man, you sound like some butthurt newbie - there's a few good points here.
I'd personally like to see victory points for kills, loyalty points for plexing, no docking and sentry gun fire at enemy militia stations and maybe some FW-induced medals handed out achievement-style.
but seriously mate, this doesn't read like a sensible opinion. If CCP wanted the Gallente to win, WE wouldn't have won first. - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

Caldari still hold a considerable number of our systems in upper Placid and Essence, and not a single Caldari system belongs to the Gallente. Technically, you guys are still winning.

Only difference is that CCP actually has mechanisms in place that favour caldari over gallente!
Any gallentean dominance now is in spite of said mechanisms, and purely player driven. I'd love to see some rationale for the "CCP loves gallente" statements.
Against - Rats, gal vs cal - Navy dominix and navy ship colour schemes (forest camo in space!)
For ... Nothing?
I'm even leaving things like Jita and the respective security status of the highsec bases out of this since that's a player phenomenon.

Um, in a word, no. We have managed to retake systems because a growing number of Gall Mill have been plexing, even in the face of the Pervs constant plexing effort. Furthermore, we took systems #2 through #20 while those pervs were doing their best to stop us.
It is true that the pervs took a day or three off in the beginning, and haven't been seen in the past few days. However the plexing effort that is responsible for well over 80% of the systems matched, and beat, the Pervs and their "army of alt plexers."
We are not taking systems, "only because of the..." absence of our opponents. We are taking them because of the presence of allies who have proven that all of you who said it couldn't be done were flat out wrong. We have taken systems because of the presence of folk like Gabriel Darkfyre, Julianis S, Val Erin, and lots of others that have used Gab's plexing channel for planning, support, and positive progress for *months* now.
Credit where credit is due, the Pervs absence was one of the factors that helped to make the first systems come back to us, and is helping to make the last few come quick and easy. But, credit where credit is due, the presence of the Gall Mill Plexers is responsible for the bulk of the flipping of systems we've seen this past month or three, not the absence of the Pervs.
PS And to forestall one of the normal misunderstandings, I'm not including myself in those list of plexers for a reason. I grew tired of it long ago and only do 2 or 3 plexs a day, anymore. It ain't me that's plexing my ass off, it is the group listed above and a number of other members of that plexing channel. The credit goes to them, not to me, and not to the pervs.

PERVS were re-taking systems until the latest round of captures in Alsavoinon and Alamel. The "puddle" strategy cannot be countered by players with real lives who are asleep at 4 am. However, the puddle strategy will not work when we have many more systems than the Caldari - since plexes that re-spawn will do so right after downtime because they will be switching from Gallente to Caldari.
The PERV after downtime dominance is and will likely always be complete. They have the numbers, skillpoints, experienc, at that time to take on the entire Gallente militia. Gallente (including me) have learned to avoid them during their active times because there is likely little chance of being competitive in any engagement.
They were able to re-cap Hevrice at their leisure and held Old Man Star vulnerable over an entire weekend at their leisure too. It's difficult for me to believe that any system they choose to actively defend, like perhaps Ladistier, can be taken.
I suspect they are truthful when they say they finally got bored of plexing because of no engagements. They've already conquered all of Gallente space, and they've already held it for far longer than anybody else would ever care to try.
In any case, what we do know is that the rest of the Caldari Militia is fail atm because they've relied on Damar to do the dirty plexing work for them. It seems they're going to have to earn their e-peen from here on out.

Wow, you really do have no sense of humor.
No, I don't think that CCP really hates Caldari and loves Gallente or vice-versa, but they're doing a good job of hating us both. The sad reality is that We really need some incentives to plex - otherwise, why not just run blobs through the Tama pipe and do FW missions?
I like FW because of its promise for small-gang warfare, and the massive amounts of fun we have when we get it. I don't like the fact that the incentive is to do anything but participate in that.
My point with my tongue-in-cheek comment about CCP loving Gals is that now is the perfect time to do something about it! The Gals are retaking their systems, which means it would be a lot more...fair, I suppose, than if they did it while the Caldari held them all.
And yes, for the most part, Caldari militia stopped fighting for plexes because there was no point - we might as well see if CCP will change things once it gets back to 50-50. --- CHORI is recruiting! |

Personally, I want the Gals to take every system. I prefer offensive to defensive.
The OP was rather tongue-in-cheek, (to be honest, a bit of trolling before I went to bed) but I'll be serious:
Every time one side starts winning in FW, the other side pretty much goes dead. And there's a reason for this: there are no mechanisms in place to encourage fighting back. So, basically, CCP has set up a system with negative reinforcement for the activity they claim to desire.
Granted, this is something a lot of FWers have said before, so I suppose I'm just getting the joy of discovery for myself at the moment.
I don't honestly believe that CCP favors any side, or that they are trying to move us all out to 0.0, I just think we are being ignored. And since we've been continually ignored, despite posts from everyone from Damar to Anke to PIE to etc, what's there left to do but bitterly troll?
So let's see a bit more flaming and less reasonable posts in this thread. --- CHORI is recruiting! |

I used to think along similar lines. Then the years came and went with no action taken; now I am of the belief that CCP had NO recognizable design goal or vision whatsoever when they excreted FW.
They jest about coming up with ideas at the local tavern, I think they came up with FW at the urinals at the tail-end of one of those nights .. sure does carry the stink.

Can confirm this as CSM. They haven't had a single scrum team on it since release. There is no Dev with FW in his portfolio. No-one is responsible for it.

Obviously. However I still like it and enough people are in it that the hope they eventually return to it continues. Same with low sec.
To be honest both FW and low-sec just by itself have so much good potential it's almost a crime CCP doesn't pay more attention to them. As evidenced by the countless threads regarding the subject. -Jin Nib Trading on behalf of Opera Noir since: 2009.03.02 03:53:00
