heavy missile drake with probe launcher, 3 large shield extenders (2 top named, 1 t2 assuming max fitting skills), passive tank (couple of those shield recharge thingies in low). I got technical there huh? 8) |

Drake, Vexor (Navy Issue is so awesome) are just two that come on top of my list. Both quite easy to get in, with enough slots and tank/dps for exploration and a lot more.
Very flexible ships. brb |

Basic guideline for fitting a Drake
For the launchers: Malkuth if your skills are low, they're easy to fit Arbalest if you've got the isk XR-3200 if you have decent skills but not isk
Probe launcher in the spare high slot obviously
For mids:
2 LSE's, meta 4 until you can fit T2 3 rat specific resists, afterburner
Lows: 2 ballistic controls 2 shield power relays
Rigs: Medium core defense field purgers
Drones:
5 of them hobgoblins for general use or warriors for angels
Again this is a basic layout, you can change low slots around, cpu upgrade and 3 bcs for more damage for example. You can also fit power grid upgrades if your skills are low. You can drop the AB and use an EM a thermal and 2 invulnerability fields for an omni tank. This will give you a lower overall tank but you won't have to refit all the time based on what your fighting. Personally I prefer rat specific but if your exploring you may not always be near a station.
Grab one of the fitting tools like evehq, pyfa or EFT and see what works with your skills |

The meta level is used to refer to the item quality, the higher the number the better the module is. You can see them on this list of launchers. |

If you aren't going to be in WHs, ALWAYS use a Heron to scan down signatures, and eventually train for a Buzzard. The scanning bonuses will save you a lot of time.
Edit: actually, you should always be using a heron/buzzard |
