Why don't rats drop t2 modules yet, surely after all this time the npc's have trained up to use t2 modules?
If CCP implemented some form of t2 loot on BS rats/High tier (officer/faction) rats there would be a massive influx of players to low/null sec. This would also increase the risk to reward of being in these areas and we would see an increase in low sec travellers and pirating alike...
Maybe a 15-50% chance to drop depending on the type of rat, say a shadow serpentis fragate has a 50% chance to drop a t2 module and an officer battle ship has the 15% chance, and a regular bs has a 25% chance...
Just slinging ideas, what does everyone else think?

Edited by: Lexx Khadar on 12/03/2010 15:45:34 Since your asking for opinions. Its rubbish I must say. Npcs can drop some the best meta level items out there that can be far superior even to t2. If you were to implement this it'd actually make ratting less profitable.

Without merit.
T2 items are player manufactured(*) and T2 drops would devalue an important aspect of the game (crafting). I suggest that the frequency of good quality named and faction items dropped be nudged up a bit though. Meta 3 - 4 and faction gear can be just as good as T2 if not better in terms of fitting, performance and activation capacitor cost.
(*) - I have no interest in tech 2 manufacturing and derive no immediate profit from player driven crafting.

Edited by: Yakoff on 12/03/2010 20:32:42 The heck with T2. I want those metalevel 30 rated modules that these rats seem to use. For example, that multispec ecm the gurista's frigate uses to jam a Thanatos (like what 70+ mag strength). Or that Sansha's torpedo launcher that can hit you from 100k out. Or even the hold size of the ships that use cap injectors and an endless supply of boosters. They never seem to run out of cap.
I'd also go for a bpc one of them thare BS's that seam to have 15 high slots. ___ It deosnt mttaer waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, olny taht the frist and lsat leettr be in the rghit pclae. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef. |

Rats should drop no loot, they should only be salvagable wrecks, well maybe tags. I think all NPCs should follow the sleeper order. Tags and salvage no modules. Hell i'd give up all my t2 bs for some of them sleeper webs and scrams. This would fix soooooo much stuffs.
T2 loots from rats...heh, why don't you just ask ccp to start seeding everything on the npc market, minerals, ships, modules.....
I can't believe how fail some folk are tbh. T2 module rat drops heh. stupid.

Meta 4 items are generally more expensive than T2, plus T2 items come from players manufacturing them while Meta 1-4 come from rats only. Allowing rats to drop T2 items would actually throw off the entire T2 production market. That would affect everything from moon mining, to T1 item production, to traders bringing T2 items from high sec market hubs to 0.0.
So I think it is a terribad idea, if you ask me.

If anything they need to REMOVE tech 1 drops from rats. Make them drop ONLY meta 2-4 items. Oh no you don't! Incoming witty reply, ETA: 300 seconds! |

T2 is specifically designed with capsuleer control in mind. Common NPCs aren't piloted by capsuleers, so they can't make use of T2 modules or ships. Meta item variants are the attempt of those factions to get close in performance to T2 while allowing common crew to operate the equipment. Similar with faction ships and modules.
IMHO, all rats should drop are meta components that act as BPCs that can build a meta module out of a T1 module. Anything else is salvage. --------

I like this idea. More industry opportunities and make t1 less laughably cheap.
