This weekend there were no less than FOURTEEN teams that were completely shut down and dunked on, walking out humiliated with zero points. Which of these teams were you most surprised to see fail so hard? Which of the winners surprised you the most? |

Solar Fleet. The outcome wasn't that surprising considering the fact that they A: did not bring any ECCM, and B: were against a team heavily focused on ECM. I just hoped they would have done better as their set-up was one used by many teams.
TEST. Given the fact that they are one of the major alliances in CFC, I expected them to do better. Maybe it just wasn't working out for them, but I did not expect a complete shutout loss.
Quote:Which of the winners surprised you the most?
Red vs Blue. Not the fact that they won, to be honest. They are a true PvP alliance after all, but the speed was a welcome surprise. The poor Scimi of Get Off My Lawn lasted for a whole 2 seconds before it was turned into dust.
Darkside. I really expected Razor to be the victor here. They had more ECM abilities than Darkside, but it just didn't work out for them somehow.

You heard it here first, guys. If you're a member of the CFC you're good at small gang warfare, or supposed to be. |

No, no. Don't get me wrong. I know most CFC alliances are not accustomed to small gang warfare. But given the fact that they are this large, one would expect that they would be able to field a team that is still specialized in this. Perhaps a niche-corp in their alliance specializing in small-gang warfare. If the Goons can do this (field a proper small-gang warfare team), why can't Test?

my favortie match so far is the Suddenly Spaceships match where it was Vindi, cyclone, scimitar + cpl frigates vs 3x Talos, scimitar, frigates.
The match started and the vindi was instantly into 10% shield.. idk if they were overloading the blasters on the talos' but if they werent that was an error on their part. If they had killed that VIndi in the first 20 seconds of the match the outocme would have been waaay different. I loved the match, but blaster vs blaster is always amazing. I was screaming in my head to overload :P
I also enjoyed the sledgehammer as Raivi called it that PL brought with their Sleipnir 3x Cyclone team huge DPS no logi just shredded everything |

I was surprised and disappointed that Solar Fleet brought such a stupid unoriginal lazy predictable setup, I expected more from them..
Other than that, was very surprised Manifest Destiny lost, let alone with 0 points. |

My favorite moment this weekend:
Dual active-tanked machariels (unironically) for the win.
Once I saw armor and shield repping simultaneously I was like, oh god please let them win. It's like getting a humiliation kill. I could almost hear the "HUMILIATION" voice from Quake3 when R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N pulled it off. It wasn't against scrubs either, RED.Overlord is a decent team. It was wonderful. |

This may be our last one. Tourney isn't about the best fleets with the best pilots. It's about the best spying and hacks. Things we don't care to take part in. It was fun to be there again this year and fight it's just no fun going into your match with the other teams knowing what you are gonna do. |

Good call. its sad when you loose while bring such a powerful team as....
Huginn
Tornado
Tornado
Hawk
Hawk
Hawk
WHAT THE HELL DID YOU EXPECT TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU BRING A SET UP LIKE THAT???
Seriously. please explain how this team you fielded at all qualifies as 'the best fleet' I have no idea how you thought Tier 3 BCs with assault frigs AND NO LOGISTICS was possibly a good idea. What did you possibly think it would beat? Did you even try and test this, or EFT it about an hour before the match started?? |

Confirming.
Also confirming that testing a setup 1 hour before the tourny for the first time and losing it to the exact same team we fielded is utter genius innovation.

We knew it was a bad draw when we were fighting a team tied to PL and Hydra... You're obviously gonna say it was a bad setup and yeah it's going to do very poorly against a team that knows what you have. Give us what the other team is fielding and we'd never lose a ship...I don't get into the tourney for this though and that's it for us. |

We practiced against several of the teams that were fielded including a 4 BC team, 3 tengus (and variations), Rattlesnake team, 3 brutix team with rep drones. Several sleipnir teams. Not saying we could beat every setup but we did test against the popular crap people bring every tourney and beat them all with it. Of course a new popular team emerged and so we needed to test against it. We were followed around by yet another spy so we wasted a couple of hours trying to get some fights in against it (we weren't changing our setup but figured VoC would bring the popular one).
Obviously we decided to go at that team before our match and you guys watched us kill our first team with that team. However, we had no idea that you would bring it, we just wanted to be able to fly against it if we saw it again for the 8th time. Just didn't get the practices in because of the spying and kudos for know the tracking disruptors would do away with our dps Either way, that's part of it (whatever you guys do) and I can tell other groups that don't do it, you have no shot no matter how good you are... |

Lol, it looks good on this board when you say it. It's even funny. Truthful is something it's not though...
Didn't mean to derail the thread, this will be my last post here. We'll finish this tourney out and I'll put up a history CHFOR's tourney fights for any tourney fans or people that want to see what we went through in AT6-7-8-9 and now 10. The "meta-gamers" can have it. |

Wouldnt brag with that either.... most of your previous tournaments wins are by pure luck... facing teams that had crappier setups.. Also ... when you say you wanted to bring stuff out of the box.. make sure it works... (old saying here: if it aint broken dont fix it) Still want to know how you fitted the sleips when you tested.. dont see how you could have won nados vs sleipnirs.. |

We only did some of the stuff in the black hole wormhole. The other things we had to practice we used empty lowsec. You weren't the only team that can't figure out a good team and tried to meta game or whatever. Goons, rvb and others tried to with us as well. Meanwhile we just spent our time coming up with our own setup that was out of the box and good then practicing it. I'll never spend time on a tournament meant to see whos the best at a pvp fleet fight trying to figure out what the other guys are flying. That's where we're different and the tournament hasn't been a pvp one at least since AT5...
We had 1 spy that got into your testing WH with ease, we noticed the potential of the x2 sliepner, x3 merlin and scimi setup like everyone else with half a brain did. We barely "meta-gamed". If you cant spare the resources then you are going to fail.
We thought we were being inventive until we watched the first day of matches and or setup or something similar was field around 5-6 times. We expected people to realise how OP the merlin was, how good the rush sliepner was as it always has been but we never expected the exact same setup to be fielded so many times.
Spying has been around since the dawn of war and competition, deal with it. I have also watched all your previous ally tourny vids and tbh nothing impressive, bunch of ECM ships with missile spamage. Pretty much like how TQ is today. Everytime you dont like my comments/posts the terrorists win and your a disgrace to your country. |
