My razor mouse, a while ago, did a doubleclick even tho i clicked only once every so often. It worsened over time and was annoying as **** - damn thing was expensive, too. -

Yeah. My mouse is only a year old though, and under warranty afaik. The mouse (mostly) works great, it's just frustrating when this happens whenever I play Eve.

When I'm flying my Curse and something warps onto grid, I click the 18km orbit button then spam ctrl-click on the overview trying to lock him... often ending up MWD-ramming the ship I am trying to attack

Wow all this time I thought I was the only one >.<
I actually switched mice over this, which did fix it, but come to think of it I only ever had the mistaken double-click thing happening in eve, strangely. It would happen sometimes while I was panning the camera to look around, or even when I was just zooming in and out with the mouse-wheel.

Hahaha .. I just noticed they've got a "UI Designer" in the game credits. When it comes to broken UI, I guess this mean you've got a target to paint now ;)
Hehe, wonder what CCP pseudonym he goes under.

Also, this new login system is crap: No auto login means I must log back in every 5 minutes? wtf. |

Edited by: Avernus on 18/03/2010 17:31:09 Siigari, it's your mouse.
I've been through 3 other logitech mice since I started playing Eve, MX 500, MX 700, MX Revolution... onto my fourth now.
With all three previous mice it was the exact problem that you describe with the left mouse button. I find Logitech's have about a two year lifespan due to this problem.
Still love them.
Edit: I hated having to put away the MX Revolution... best mouse I've had so far. |

I have a not logitech mouse that does this. although I guess it is getting a bit old, but don't have any other problems with it... |

I have stopped using ctrl click for this reason. I have had problems with ctrl + click across 3 different mouses. At least one of the mouses ended up dying and needing replacement, however I have no issues with the other two mice in other games. Right click and select your desired option is the way to go. |

This is working as intended and makes it sooooo much easier to tackle ships that appear after they lose the gate cloak. To work around that function in your situation you hit the mwd and orbit button after you see the target lock bar start to fill. But I guess it would be nice if there was an option to turn it off. |

but? why not just ignore doubleclick while ctrl is down? This issue does't sound like it would be too hard to fix but im sure there is some complex technical intelligent design that prevents fixing it?

Happens to me randomly while salvaging a wreck field.
I'd really much prefer that "accelerate in camera direction" were some hotkey rather than double click. |

Edited by: Kyra Felann on 18/03/2010 21:17:17 I don't understand--is your mouse registering clicks when you don't click?
Does it happen when you click something and then click again a short time later? Increase your double-click speed threshold further. If I have it too low, I'll accidentally double-click all the time, so I have mine set very fast, so it pretty much has to be deliberate.
Otherwise, I think it's entirely user-related. Do you have some sort of medical condition like Parkinson's where your hands are twitchy/shaky? Too much caffeine/meth?
I really don't see how this is a problem unless you genuinely have some sort of medical condition that makes you click when you don't mean to or if you mouse is registering false double clicks when you only click once.
Originally by: Wet Ferret I'd really much prefer that "accelerate in camera direction" were some hotkey rather than double click.
This would be a handy feature. Of course, EVE just needs more hotkey support in general--it's my only major problem with the UI. |

I don't think it's JUST one thing or another, but rather a combination of drivers, worn mouse, and EVE's ****ty UI. Certain nVidia drivers (and I think some ATI ones, too) have been known to cause issues with mice (lagged clicks/movement, extra clicks, that kind of stuff), and faulty mice drivers may cause problems. When mice start to wear out, the micro-switch doesn't always return properly, so you get extra mouse clicks. EVE is fairly hard on the mouse1 button
So if you're having regular problems, I'd suggest updating both your video card and mice drivers, and possibly try a new mouse (I mean NEW, not different ), and see if that fixes anything.
As for mashing ctrl+mouse1 moving you towards the target: Working as intended. EVE treats a double click on the overview while control is held down as both "target" and "approach", which has it's uses (catching cloakies, for example). If you want to be able to mash "target" without approaching, use the "target" button in the selected item window. |

I used to have this problem and it was due to my G7 mouse. I had to take it apart twice in the past 2 years (each time fixed it for roughly a year or less) and repair the copper spring inside to make it more stiff. This is a known problem with some mice specifically logitech as the spring is very thin and wears down over time causing it to not push back against the external mouse button quick enough and thus your button is essentially being depressed multiple times. Used to happen in windows all the time too when trying to drag things etc. Other than that well....

My corp thinks I'm crazy... constantly running away from pos shields when I go afk >.<
Scary sight coming back and they are all yelling at me while they are escorting the said expensive ship while it creeps farther and farther away
Eve takes so many clicks its breaking mice? I've tried a new mouse for that reason but still the same problem. Edited double click settings too just like the other guy... but to no avail :(

Hehe well maybe not EVE. I am guessing it was all the Diablo 2 and other ridiculous clicky click games that did it for me anyway |

It doesn't.
Put it this way: it's the same with different computers (old and new), different OS:es (old and new), different installs (old and new), different mice (old and new), and most importantly: different pointing devices with different click detection mechanics. It can hardly be attributed to worn-out switches when it shows up on a new pointing device that doesn't use switches to detect clicks… |

Agree... I think most people have already ruled out the bad mouse by simply replacing it. |

Well then it appears your eve client has it in for you. You had better check it for little double clicky gnomes and sqaush them. |

I have had this problem for awhile now. I slowly click target something by ctl+click when a bunch of NPC ships blob each other and I specificly want to target frigs/cruisers to get them out of the way fast. I end up aligning to them somedays on a constant basis and want to smash my mouse though the wall . I have also had a few problems where I am trying to pan around by holding the mouse button and to view something thats "behind" my camera angle then end up rolling over and accellerating in that direction as well. |

I have had some quirky and even game breaking things happen to me in this game, but what you all are describing has never ever happened to me. Must suck though. Also, I usually buy the cheapest POS mouse I can buy that doesn't have a ball in it. My current mouse is at least 4 years old. |

Also when targeting some fast rat/player frigate the mouse cursor misses the target (too slow hand) so I quickly click again. My ship starts locking but also wandering away :(
sooo annoying
