Pretty sad spamming recruitment like that. Even more sad are the people sucking him off for iskies. I guess an attention *****'s gotta do what an attention *****'s gotta do.

Would anyone be so kind as to break this down for a newbie? What is so special about getting a ransom? What makes this so effective? Is this just some elaborate scheme that allows you to attack the "mark" in high sec without Concord showing up? Why is the "mark" so willing to ransom for so much money? |

You can freely attack members of your own corp as long as it isn't an NPC corp. What this guy does - as well as hundreds of other people - is to scout out corps that fly expensive stuff, apply to their corp and then blow them up or ransom them while they're in a mission or otherwise vulnerable. It's a pretty effective form of high sec piracy. What would make this guy special is the sheer amount he claims to have gotten off of these marks. As he hasn't provided any evidence for his gains it's pretty much up to you if you're going to believe him or not.
The guy is an exceptionally annoying attention ***** as well, which is rather sad. Threads like these can be very interesting if the OP isn't such a blow hard.

Thanks, I was wondering if there was something other than the ship/pod that the mark was worried about losing. So I guess the angle is that you're catching someone in a valuable ship that they would never fly solo in low sec.
Interesting but it sure seems like a lot of hoops to jump through. It also takes advantage of a bug/loophole in the game (leaving the corp but still able to attack without penalty.) Even though I am new I am OK with the PVP aspects, including social engineering and such, but this seems like more of a cheap shot loophole. |

9 Billion ISK has been handed out in the past 24 hours.
I will be handing out billions a day until my account is banned or expires.
for all of you wanna be role playing pvp (pvp does not = yarr by the way) or macro industrials, i will simply say my post would be edited when referring to you.
a few people have abtained trillions in the game of EVE and many people have 100 billion or more.
this is simply a way to help our new and potentially active griefers in eve to get their 1st gank ships set up so they can go have some fun killing all of you pixel / monopoly money lovers ; )
Do not worry I will not be griefing you anymore but I am sure many readers and believers will be joiing you in your endevours shortly ; )
If anything I hope i raised the average paranoid level of the recruiting populous.
don't worry future griefers, it is like i stated earlier, carebears are drones and they all have the memory and intelligence level of goldfish...
go find a corp and see what you can get out of them ; )
just a reminder t2 and t3 ships insure fro nothing so they wil most liekly pay ransoms or eject and the targets always are more liekly to pay if taken aside in private chat.
as for miners well enough said there ; )
I spent 9 months laughing my ass off on comms and nearly crying from laughing so hard when people pay ransoms in strings and then contract all theiur gear and then take a screen shot of their assetts and wallet and then i make then eject or i just pop their ship anyways and grab the faction loot.
it only takes 3-4 decent guys to run with to be effective
just say LOL, LAWL, and make a smiley face ; ) during your recruitment process adn u are a sure thing ; )
thanx for your time and for all of you guys that take the time to post insults on a forum comment, weel we hope you have a great day ; )
thanx to institute of war for teaching me the ways of pew pew and RR. thanx to my 1st corp 1st ID that gave me my 1st 9 billion isk gank. thanx to fergall for making this game boring enough to make me realize that pixels r getting old. and thanx to my girlfriend for outlasting my EVE addiction ROFL.
just a heads up my alts were Biood raider 20121221 zer0 law nekros
Go get some carebear tears and help another adult gamer rage quit his unhealthy EVE addictpon ; )
oh and all you british people that think naming your ship HMS makes u a part of the royal navy are funnnnny
and if you ever join a corp named the "knights" of anything you are just as silly
Well I hope umbrella group grows in my abscence... im off to learn some life lessons from the next episode of family guy .... Peter Griffin = Chuck Norris |

It's really just social engineering. There's no abuse of game mechanics involved. Corps that don't have secure recruitment are bound to have this kind of thing happen to them.
Also, he isn't leaving the corp while still being able to attack. He joins the corp to be able to attack.

Gotcha, I misunderstood something he said in OP. I see it now.
When I (with some effort) take captain obnoxious out of the picture I can see the value of the method. I am a newb but I know already that you just don't grant corp membership that easily. Their bad for not choosing their friends wisely I guess. But the OP really needs to take his meds and grow up just a wee bit. |

Edited by: Nynjato on 19/03/2010 02:29:29 Hrrm, you guys made a post sharing your knowledge? Wonder what spurred that action. Anyway, I can vouch that corp infiltration can be profitable as all hell, having personally worked with Brutor and Ferg in the past.
Few things I want to throw in:
If your employment history gets a bit lengthy (i.e. Takes 5 minutes to load) have a go to excuse ready that can turn it back on whoever asks. The one I used most often and worked the best is saying that the account belonged to a friend and that he left it to me before being deployed, or that you are just account-sitting and are a complete EVE noob. If your going with the latter make sure to casually namedrop some high dollar assets you have; "Yeah, only thing is that he said I'm not allowed to use his Thanatos".
The API Run around. If they ask for an API key and you have said something to compromise yourself (saying you are a miner and can fly a Hulk is a big one) just give them your API, but change one character in the key and it will give you the basic character details but no skills. Blame it on CCP.
Be aware that sometimes you wont get your mark (if you suck) but you should always make them regret not paying.
When negotiating, do not be hostile to the mark, this only makes them build animosity towards you.
Have one of your reps carry salvagers in the the cargohold. Hulks and Marauders have some delicious T2 salvage that can easily bolster your numbers. I remember an opp we had where we only got like 50 mil from the marks before they all tried to log off, at which point we waited 13 minutes then popped all their ships, salvaged and pulled 5 Intact Armor Plates from the Hulks. Good times.
