*nix computers use UTC internally but not Windows.
Linux: Internal BIOS clock is set to UTC, Xfce displays local time on the desktop.
Windows: Internal BIOS clock is set to local time, Windows displays local time on the desktop. At least that's how it worked when I ran Windows XP. W7 might be different, never used it. Please support: export of settings in editable format

I'm from the century that despises cell phones and facebook. I've hated cell phones since they were called beepers, I am not a fan of being overly accessible or connected to the world by the hip. There used to be a time when everyone went somewhere to be social. While those places still exist, I find it overly annoying when I see a bunch of people living their social life by staring at a phone. Oh dear I think I just ranted..... |

I'm not fond of social media & mobile phones either but I still own a mobile. I happen to be one of the few people in the world that is capable of owning an iPhone with out staring at it every waking moment of my life. |

Bit insulting, when a customer asks a fairly reasonable question and they get this kind of response, isn't it?

Not the same, when I get tired of being connected I can walk away and there's nothing anyone can do to get my attention. Much like a landline, when I leave the house there's nothing anyone can do to get my attention. |

Psychotic Monk wrote:Then how will you coordinate with people in different countries. Do you want to always be saying '7 PM CST" and doing conversions in your head about when people mean when they say 7 PM? It'd basically be impossible to run an international organization, such as your average corp.
I think if you had local time you'd quickly be asking for universal time.
Back in my day in DAOC when we had to run uphill both ways to a raid and back we had to do all of the conversions ourselves. Each time I filled out a raid listing I would include all of states hours, Europe's hours, and Australia's hours and save the trouble for everyone else. These kids don't realize how good they have it when we can simply say 22:00 eve time and everyone can simply look at the current time and add a few hours up from there. If they want local time they can buy a damn clock I say. Hell, they can learn to tell time by the rotation of the sun for all I care. Their momma must be real proud at how helpless they've become that they can't even alt-tab to check the time. |

I thought people used to have y'know.. Clocks, phones.. Watches? Anything? Too poor? Seriously, its EVE time, and it just "happens" to be the local time for Iceland.
If you need to know what the time is, maybe find out by not playing a game.

I used to want this when I first started. Now I just know to subtract 4 hours from Eve time, it's not that hard. Having different times on different clients would cause way more headaches then it would cure. Everyone having the same time on their clock makes it much easier to schedule group activities. I like alliance mails only having one time listed, it would be quite bothersome to see 10 different time zones listed in every mail. |

That the customer is so lazy he can't look at his watch/cell phone/wall clock/desktop is more insulting (to the customer) than a dev responding with a (subtly) on-topic joke.
Besides, someone needs to fill in for Punkturis and troll the forums while she's on vacation... |

That's nice but I don't really need one. It was just a suggestion, but truthfully I only need to know the time 3 times a day, when to get up, when work ends, and when to go to bed. 4 on Wednesdays because I need to know when through the wormhole starts but I solve that by just having science channel turned on after dark. |
