Nothing was promised. It has always been "wouldn't this be neat" or "what we would like to do" when it comes to possible features down the pipeline. |

It was on during 2009 fanfest i think.
So what you are saying actually is that this Pi is the final product ? |

And where did I say that? Certain features can stagnate for awhile while other mechanics are in higher demand for reiteration. Such as POS structures or Ring mining to offset the long since touched moons. They could be working on new PI stuff for Dust as we speak but it is unimportant tell Dust is actually seeded into the universe to a point Dust and EvE players do things together. Which will be minimal or nil at launch. |

I would definitely like to see the "sim city or civilization in space" that torfi mentioned in 2009. that's what I was expecting and even excited for.
I can't explain the level of disappointment I felt at the final product. hopefully the reiterate once dust is released to make it a fun game in its own right. |

I view the current PI as a place holder and not good enough in its current form.
CCP needs to balance out moon mining, in space harvesting, and planet harvesting and their roles in the various production chains.
The current system is based on a game where planets were irrelevant. If CCP wants players to pay mercenaries to fight over planets, they will have to make the planets into something valuable.
I wonder what the FPS players would see as 'worth fighting for'.
Faction Wars should provide some motivation and rewards, but the current PI is probably not enough on its own. |

I would tend to agree regarding the current version of PI. I imagine that once EVE and Dust are starting to talk to one another, this is going to be more of a thing, and it will be something that both Dust and EVE players can participate in.
Now that said, as someone who is looking forward to Dust, I anticipate putting almost no time at all into PI because I play first person shooters to shoot people. I do like load outs and customization and skill training and all that good stuff but the guns are what really count. I would be more likely to get into PI if it was also on the Neocom, but that just may be my impatience with really wanting to see that app, even an early version of it. I want to hold it in my hands and toy with my load outs.
But FPS fans probably don't need something 'worth fighting for.' The fight is enough. Everything else is just icing on the cake. |

PI is barely worth the time of doing it now without DUST in Eve at all and definitly won't be worth of fighting for unless CCP will do some kind of storm on Eve market with it.
Personally im sceptical about it. CCP broke their promises so many times...
Do you remember Atmosphere flights ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pg1dzAvL2M ) check a date of that movie... How about WIS? Many people were excited about it and all we got is prison cell in station without any reason to even enter it.
I bet that whole interaction between Eve and dust will be "click a button to hire mercs" window or similar bulls*it.

Holly ****! Bitter much?
Initially dust wont even have that functionality the only thing they will have is conjoined markets. The mercs wont have interaction with us until they release the expansion that has there planetary activities effect faction warfare. So initially the faction warfare people will be the only ones hiring them.
Later on when ever they figure out how planetary control will factor into null sec sov, the average joe will be able to higher mercs but thats another much later expansion. Yes that will be press button higher mercs. This is all conjecture based on what Ive seen so far.
But even if it is that simple, It doesnt change the fact that once some one a playstation console expends digital blood sweat and tears in an fps, after down time something will change in our world.
Also I do PI on another character. Ive seen things in dust that look remarkably similar to certain things in PI. Thats all I am saying. More valuable?! Sure, i'm all for it. As it is, I'm making hundreds of millions of passive isk for basic refined products. This nets me more isk than research agents. IF i take those products and mass produce end products the profits are even more impressive. As someone who has refined their planet harvesting techniques and production lines, I have to say they are a "diamond in the rough" or "low hanging fruit" AND, it takes way less time to get into. IMO PI is a feature less used by people who do not realize the profits possible even if you dont own a POCO. Even with the highsec planets you can make serious passive income. and sssshhhh, don't tell anyone but it's better than mining. NO RISK, all reward |

PI wont cut it atm thats for sure. However if given the tools it might be that the dust mercs can have a big impact on the PI prices. I'm just hoping they will beable to set planets on fire and drive up PI mats then PI would actualy be worth somthing and worth fighting 4. |
