Edited by: Musashibou Benkei on 25/03/2010 08:59:52 Ok so let me get this straight: Alliances can now BUY their way into the alliance tournament for 1 of the 16 slots allocated for auctioning in the tournament.
Along with this, the concept of flagships has been introduced with pretty dodgy fitting allowments/restrictions.
I can already see IT Alliance, an alliance that is new due it being formed after the late KenZoku died, will have no problem forking out 200b isk or something ridiculous to ensure a spot in the tournament. This really does represent PVP skill, does it not?
Grats to CCP for turning the Alliance Tournament from a skill-oriented contest into a spectator sport where it's all about how many viewers you can get. Now it's just a matter of how much money you can pour into the match.
Having said that, CCP company motto is probably "Why fix problems when we can spend the time creating new ones?"

Edited by: Musashibou Benkei on 25/03/2010 10:36:15 Um....ok sure. CCP themselves are saying it but whatever
Also, I'm arguing about the moral correctness of letting people buy their way into a skill oriented fight.

Yes IT is totally responsible for this.... Oh wait
The MM rant!.
*edit*
The tourney never had a entry requirement of skill... it's always been about being quick and rich....

glad to see that at least someone's admitting that it's not about skill: it's about the money :)

I totally agree with you
P.S. try typing complete sentences next time with logical and valid arguments instead of just calling people stupid and hoping this gets followed up with other people's trolls.

The alternative to running a properly sanctioned auction would be what happened last time, where big alliances created multiple alt alliances to stuff the random draw pool with.

200b for a tournament slot? Not going to happen. I don't see any single alliance would fork out anything like that.

Well the entry is all about isk, the tournament itself is about skill, not sure why your confused by this but meh.
I'm still blaming MM for this,

How about this for a solution?
1) Alliances that apply must be at least 6 months old (reduces alt alliance creation) 2) If the alliance is not 6 months old, it must have X amount of members (again, to reduce alt alliance entries but also to allow for newer alliances) 3) Only people who were part of the alliance as of the APPLICATION DATE can take part in the tournament
The third rule in this application process means that less alt alliances that still meet the requirements will be able to sell off their slots for money or to shuffle around members so as to increase chance of being selected in the random process.
As someone else mentioned in another post, just because an alliance is small and doesn't hold 0.0 space; does not make them any less skilled at tournament fighting/PVP than all the other big alliances. These alliances should be given fair chances to fight while trying to reduce the alliance application spam and shuffling around done by the other major alliances to increase their chances with the draw.
