It was moments like these ,that he appreciated the slow but solid design of his Ogre. During a regular slave liberation (rather a ressource claim in progress) for his highnes. The "Cepter" had been given orders to pay a visit to a group of Sansha slave dealers and deal with them accordingly. Those heavy missile batteries then had switched from firing on the thick megathron hull and started EM- ing our slow but sturdy assault group of ogres- we had been one man short on the Ogre squad anyways, because we had to accomodate a chatty lil squad of hobgoblin cadets in the dronebay.
So despite the rising malfunctions and a footlong crack in my Ogres hull, I was happy for our youngest addition having the ability to visit his family .Tennus could certainly use the time with his wife in all this turmoil of repentence and the sudden urge of our Intaki Cpt to support the Amarrian side of things. During the previous week, it had all been about, how to pass through amarrian space on our rendevous with the khanid delegates and finally a rather surprised loooking group of Khanid NAvy Command Agents, when the Capt claimed he could easily complete level 4 assignments in no time, if he was supplied with a proper Battleship.
He didnt get one ,so we were off duty and he had to spend days in the library , studying rocket propulsion, warhead tech and the usual Vengeance Assault Frigate class vessel. After a number of days he came storming into our mess and declared " Boys, this place isnt that bad actually, see what I got for you guys but more importently, look at why I GOT.
The shimmering green of 5 brand new high spec Hammerhead drones meant work, but in the perhaps best drone a dronpilot can man in all of Eden. So we were eager to get back out into space, when 5 medium turrets were delivered to the hangar and our cheerful captain pointed to the highslots, " Right there guys and yes, I want 3 of those magstabs down there, its meant to do damage." This sparkling deimos must have been a good cut to his wallet, well, crisis seemed to be a universal matter. A furious week of rather prolific means to gain back those isk via bounties and making the Khanid Navy smile followed ,with the Amarrian Navy still not entirely convinced of his new found perspective, since they considered the Intaki rebirth a subculture of unholy origin. So, now that we got in touch in with Agent Pindan in Palas, we seem to be staying for a while. Even the heavy salvaging ships are in, station containers have arrived and quarters booked.
Alliance command is not responding to our hails regarding operations in our Minmatar HQ¦s, but well, it IS minmatar...so there could be a number of reasons why we are more or less on our own. And could we be better equipped for tedious long range assaults than with the glorious Megathron battleship ?
We are glad he is commanding us in a slowgoing, but armor hardened vessel, instead of his recent experiments with that Ishtar. Contrary to what most captains think, its no fun for the drone pilots, the dronebay is always crowded, the dronelink array is badly isolated and the gravity fields in the dronebay are not exactly made to withstand speedtanking navigation at subwarp. This evening the cpt had given out a sentry drone drill and despite the high salaries that came with this specialization, it was also known as the loneliest death in space, capsuleers seem not to care about death, neither theirs, their enemies or their dronepilots. When he visited the message board of his old academy, the groups of drones anonymous were still trying to petition a call back beacon for drones left behind. When he had met his Cpt the year after the graduation, it became very clear from the start, that there was no place for " no drone left behind" bumper stickers or union activity- this was a no vicious nor ruthless Cpt, but in some sense worse...
Will attempt chapter 2 if interest compels me to; hope you like it Cheers oLO
