so lets play a thought experiment here...
lets assume that Dust is a hit and peeps are buying plex left right and center to pimp out their fav fps...
so what happens to all that revenue... take it past the bottom line and we are only talking about profit...
From what i understand CCP had to take profits (or loans) to get the china shop up and running and that means that investment that would have gone into eve was put into dust and WOD...
So will CCP reinvest the money in dust? Invest in finishing WOD or heavily invest in EVE...
I know there are lots and lots of aspects of eve that CCP would like to improve on but they have limited resources...
Personally i would like ccp to fully staff the WOD office but for the next year focus on EVE improvements and then fully invest in WOD...
what do you guys/gals think would be the best investment of CCP cash assuming dust is a hit? PLEX FOR PIZZA! -áThere are no stupid Questions... just stupid people... |

If Dust is successful enough to pull a profit, IMO those funds should go to EVE (and a little Dust) development.
Its only fair since EVE payed for Dust. |

I highly doubt that CCP will sink all profits from DUST and EVE in to WOD, that would be a very poor business strategy. No doubt WOD will see a large increase in its budget, but not to the detriment of the other two products.
The outcome of such an idea was clearly seen and felt when CCP tried to put all its resources in to Incarna, it ended up costing them a lot of money, and large amounts of negative publicity. Numbers of terminally stupid people seem to be on the increase, I suggest we have a real life Stupidageddon to rectify this issue. |

On a personal level, put it toward whichever game allows for me to walk around in a cantina in fancy clothes the soonest.
On a business level, I split it 40% for EVE, 40% for WOD, 20% for Dust. |

revenue from Dust? lol.. not until they open it to pc users I like all these gankbear tears, now maybe you'll have to go prove your "l33t pvp" skills against something that shoots back like the rest of us do. |

interesting enough but wis is actually going to be exploration pvp... like the video that ccp did earlier this year... expect the movie alien but in space but without any actual aliens... but more then likely scarry looking sleepers in the stations...

Considering Dust is free to play, and you can transfer isk to Dust for purchasing items, how likely is it that they'll make a profit on Dust anytime soon?

see the beta dust pack and how arum will work in dust...
if you want like in eve you can buy a plex and get stuff...
nothing you could not get by grinding but you can still buy if if you dont have the time...
this could lead to a great money sink for future ccp projects...
edit: me and probs a million other fools will end up buying some starter pack that includes faster training for a month and some other goodies...
think about that potential...

CCP is actually hoping DUST will get more people to play EVE. If that works perhaps EVE will have enough resources just for itself as well as Dust having enough resources. Of course WoD is about vampries, so they will never have enough resources and will propably suck from both accounts to feel better. I will not be voting in the CSM election, so you need to go vote to make up for me. |

Dust investing back into eve is poor business sense. The reason for the economic problems last year was because they developed too much with too little investment. Development of new products is needed for continued growth. When dust goes live, the money for eve from that will be in getting people into eve. The profits should go to WoD which opens up an entirely new income branch of people who prefer fantasy and horror to internets spaceships.
Because of WoD differences, it was a good business choice for ccp. Because of the style and environment, CCP is good for WoD in making a game most befitting of a vampyrism game. The concepts ccp has already brought out are amazing and implementable. In all regards, at least in the short term, WoD would probably quite quickly bypass Eve. |

nope, wrong, would not read again
OUR MONEY goes to CCP, and it then spent on things CCP does. you get a month of eve for your money, They are a company not a consumer. It's about where the money comes from, how much of it you have, how many empolyees can you handle, and how many games you can make at once. The money that comes in the more games you can make.
Mark of words if dust makes a ton of money, the extra money it makes over breaking even and paying the employees, will be put into something new. Something most likely tied into eve, but new. Maybe even a single player game. It'll happen at some point, there is no avoiding it. Why dust 514 is on Console and not PCBattle field 3 sales Xbox 360: 2.2 million PlayStation 3: 1.5 million PC: 500,000http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1206/scimi.jpg |

while ccp does have investors, CCP is not publicly traded, they don't even need to give sony more than themselves due to that.
Read the yearly released profit reports that are public for anyone to read. Like year CCP made something crazy like 120 million profit. That's after paying back loans and investment, and such. No one holds stock in the company. Why dust 514 is on Console and not PCBattle field 3 sales Xbox 360: 2.2 million PlayStation 3: 1.5 million PC: 500,000http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1206/scimi.jpg |
