I was playing last night and there were 47k ppl on the server when I logged on. I have comcast cable and I could tell it was running slow, the picture on the cable was garbled as well as the internet having lag issues.
Anyway I'm doing the first room of the assault and all of the sudden my shields wont boost. my caps wont boost either, and my targeting is stuck in a loop. HUGE lag spike. I'm looking at the screen and my damage is going up up up and nothing will turn on. I was about halfway to hell when I decided to run. I sat there with the command given to dock for like a minute and the "blown up ship" animation sequence looked like it was starting.
I escaped with 0% hull. Somehow my alt decloaked with nothing within 10k range. I heard the alarm from the shields and got elvis.
When I logged back on I noticed that there were 10,000 less players on the server. Totally not CCP's fault, and not a grief thread. Just amazing luck. I never saw 0% hull before, thanks CCP. This is clearly a signature. |

I'm not sure what causes the 0% hull thing, but it has something to do with the servers/laggy nodes.
I've seen empty 0% hull ships just show up in space after a node goes down.

WHat was the absolute value of your hull hp? The % number is probably rounded. IE, if you had 1 hull hp left, the % was probably rounded down giving a read out of 0%. ----------

I believe that is due to the ship losing bonuses which increase hull hp. IE, if you give you ship a 5% bonus to hull hp, and you eject when it has 4% hull hp left, the ship will suddenly have -1% hull hp left, which is less than 0 - triggering the ship to destruct. ----------

You'll only feel that way until you get the repair bill, because there is no way to undock that thing intact to use hullreppers on it:

if you have 4% hull, which lets say for this example is a total of 100...when you jump out of the ship, your ship loses it's skill bonuses. If you were giving it a 5% hul bonus, your ship loses 5 hull hitpoints.
People donnt get this mechanic...it's quite scary how many people think the way you do. |

Something similar happened in a lowsec belt for me. Escaped in my pod, and during the lag spike the pod was at half hull with my +4 implants. The pod was fully repaired by the time I logged in.

Pfft, I've taken a ship to negative hull HP before and still flown it.
Just put on a bunch of reinforced bulkheads and ask a friend to shoot you into really low hull. Then offline the bulkheads in space, and you'll have negative hull HP!
Ejecting will make you go boom though

i got that once before
i was doing a mission in a dominix was trying to warp out when my structure hit 0% exactly as my armor rep cycle boosted my armor to 5% & luckily i managed to warp out.
i guess because my armor was 5% when i got out the game decided that all 3 were not depleted to 0% and didnt blow up ship up.
by the time i docked my armor was repped shield had recharged to about 20% but i still have no structure.
SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

Do you actually know the game you're playing? Last time I checked, you can undock any ship you're in when you log in, negative HP and all. Furthermore: plates, bulkheads, hardwires for armor- and hullamount.
